Stepping into the Paulsens Hotell is a little like time-travel. The hotel is beautifully maintained and full of artifacts with an interesting history - the proprietor kindly told us a few stories which were very entertaining. They serve enormous, delicious meals, and the rooms were cozy, clean, and comfortable. 5/5

The hotel is very unusual compared to anything we stayed in Norway. The owners took great care to restore the house to its original state. As we were a group of 8 people we occupied 5 different rooms, and all were different. Even if the house is filled with antiques the beds were very comfortable and the matresses seemed quite... More

An old fashioned wonderful hotel kept in the way it was in the beginning of last century. Interesting place to stay, and the hosts were warm and pleasant. Great "homemade" food. Situated in the centre of Lyngdal and very close to both shopping and areas for retreat such as walking paths close to the river.

one of a kind a true historic hotel. So welcoming. Do not look for luxury comfort. This is about being true to the way it was way back when.. Be sure to get Bent and/ or Jimmy to tell you about the history of the hotel and the supernatural incidents that have taken place in the hotel. Wonderful traditional food.... More

On our trip through Norway, my friends and I stayed at the Paulsens Hotell & Cafe for one night, and exhausted as we were we stayed up until midnight having a great time karaokeing. The owners are great hosts with lots of humour, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The interior is unique and charming, we slept well and... More

This was a great stop along the way. I was there with my fiance, we both loved the old norwegian farmer romantics that was going on there. Antique furniture, home made meals, drinks and sweets that all tasted great. The help even weared old time made costumes that really gave it the authenticity to complete the theme. The thing I... If you are touring Southern Norway this really is the place to stay. Offering truly warm hospitality in the environs of a delightful, sympathetically restored period mansion. It really gives you a feel for a mansion of the time. This combined with an excellent restaurant makes it an excellent choice.

A unique experience where you truly feel at home. The hotel is full of antique furniture and you are really feeling that you are in a historic place. The best thing are probably the little touches, like the music playing in the background, the vintage newspapers on the front desk and the historical photographs on the walls. The food is... More

Stopped here overnight on a motorbiking tour. Great accommodation and food with more than a touch of history and character. The finish and feel of the place is genuinely unique. The rooms are nice (if quirky), beds very comfortable (memory foam), communal bathroom was modern and clean, off street parking, free fast wifi, great food, friendly and helpful staff... not... Paulsens hotel is highly recommended if you want to stay in a little hotel with a very special atmosphere, if you want to feel very welcome and if you like a tasteful breakfast in lovely surroundings. The hotel is beautifully decorated and you feel you have been in a time-machine. The room was nice and with very comfortable beds. Shared... More
