For anyone considering staying at Hotel Acquaviva, please take the poor reviews with a pinch of salt. This is a great hotel. The nay-sayers all appear to have travelled with Great Rail Journeys. Clearly, they have had a different experience to those travelling independently or with a travel company. The food in the restaurant is first class with a varied... more

We stayed at this hotel whilst travelling with Great Rail Journeys. The hotel is really nice and in a good location. We supposedly had a Lake Garda view room but you would have had to be a contortionist to see the Lake. The room was very comfortable with a balcony and deserved it's four star rating. A five minute walk... more

Nice hotel rooms, well furnished with balcony. The restaurant food and manager leave a lot to be desired. We were with Great Rail journeys, a group of 32, and we were treated like a second rate coach tour in the restaurent. My wife and I were ushered from a four seat table (no others were set) only for an italian... more

Very nice hotel and facilities first class ,reception staff polite and helpfull ,but the restaurant staff need people training not rude but not seeing the needs of the customers at the tables they are not helped by the poor choices of food ,2 starter choices 2 m/meals and no choice for desert but a good salad bar ,but when the... more

Readers should ignore all the moaning minnies that have written bad reviews about this hotel. Some of the comments are laughable. One woman whines that the tunnel to the private lake front does not open until 1000, so she was unable to take an early morning swim. Really? So the large outdoor pool and luxurious indoor pool were not good... more

I loved almost everything about this hotel! I stayed for two nights - the room was beautiful with a spacious bathroom and a gorgeous view of the lake from the balcony. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were delicious with lots of choices. I didn't get chance to try the wellness centre but it looked beautiful, and there is a fantastic... more

Date:20th October 2008 - Reviewer Anne and Andy - Scotland We stayed here for 10 days in August of this year and had a wonderful time. We were a bit dubious about some of the previous reviews we had read, after we had booked the hotel! but we were not disappointed in any way. The room we had had a... more

Just returned from Lake Garda after a trip with Great Rail Journeys. Hotel is very modern with excellent bedrooms and bathrooms. As most of our days were spent on trips, we did not really get the time to appreciate the facilities on offer. The reception staff were friendly and helpful - a sharp contrast to the restaurant staff. We were... more

This is a great hotel located in a suburb of Desenzano about a twenty minute walk from the centre. The hotel is also very close to Sirmione. There is a shuttle bus service offered by the hotel but it is not very reliable. The hotel also provide bicycles for hotel guests to use. The hotel is very modern and spotlessly... more

We stayed at the Acquaviva for a week in August, and had a fabulous time. We had a huge room with a beautiful bathroom, the only downside was there was no balcony, despite the hotel stating all rooms have spacious balconies. That aside, the hotel facilites, the cleanliness, the quality of the food and the very helpful staff more than... more
