We spent a night at the Hotel La Locanda while in Volterra for a weekend. We found the price to be fair (72 euros for the night), for the quality of what was offered - comfortable, large bed ; the location was great, in the centro storico - the rooms clean, a bit old fashioned but really comfortable. Our room... More

This is a well situated hotel within the old city walls. The rooms are beautiful and one must not be put off by the small entrance. The only negative aspect is that there is no parking. The free public parking is rather far and there are many stairs to get back into the city.

Ideal location just inside the old wall. It was very easy to make all our arrangements via e-mail. We used the free parking lot once we had unloaded our luggage --over 240 steps to climb for that---good exercise! Rooms are clean and nicely furnished--- wifi and a/c. Staff all friendly and helpful. Typical breakfast.

We stayed here with a Rick Steves tour group. We absolutely adored Volterra. The town is so tiny that everything seems close by, and we never had trouble coming from or going to our hotel. Our room and our bathroom was large, though our view was just of the building right across the narrow street. I would ask for an... More

Second time in this hotel during my second time in Volterra. Considering the limited number of rooms available, this hotel does not disappoint. Both visits were magical and we are ready to return and would stay here again.

Volterra is small intimate city ..and this hotel is nestled in center. Very nice room ..with space to stretch ..especially compared to Rome hotels of similar price. The bathroom was nice size and felt very comfortable.

The best part of this small hotel of course is how close it is to everything. Tucked in need the end of a road and steps to shops, colosseum, restaurants, it is a comfortable haven to stop in and rest during your day. There is a small lobby area and place to congregate with your party before you set out... More

We spent two nights here with a tour group. I would have picked the hotel based on location alone: it's on the main street running through the town. I suppose in a town this small any location is convenient, but this was especially so just because it was on the one main street! Our very large room with one queen... More

Conveniently located in the heart of the old city. In my opinion the price per room is too overpriced. So high price should be subject to improvement of the breakfast, as a very small selection of food spoils hotel image. The staff was friendly and very nice

Volterra is a magical, medieval town in the Tuscan hills that is must see. This hotel captures small "e" elegance that is warm and gracious. Our room was huge: large comfy bed, desk, wardrobe, and even a twin bed in the corner. Bathrooms newly renovated and also spacious with toasty towels from the heated towel rack (appreciated on the cool... More
