My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Domus La Quercia along with a couple of close friends. The location was good, allowing ready access to Viterbo, Tarquinia, and Bomarzo. We found some good restaurants within easy driving distance.
The building is impressive and the lobby is cozy and inviting. But the charm ends there. The first room that we were given was tidy enough, but the bathroom smelled strongly of mildew, so we were switched to a different room.
The hallways are sterile and institutional, with reminders of the hotel's past life as a convent, including religious statuary.
The hotel manager and his family live at the hotel, apparently in the room directly adjacent to ours. The walls are thin, so we were treated to the uncensored sounds of family life. More often than not, the manager's young daughters were glued to the computer in the hotel lobby, but they made themselves scarce when I needed to use the computer (at the rather pricey rate of 4 euros...
