With a dearth of places right in the old part of Spoleto, Clitunno is the place to stay during your trip here. The rooms are smallish--although the one I stayed in faced a beautiful valley and had the most incredible sunset views. Other rooms faced the ALLEY and/or the noisy street; but keeping it in perspective, you wouldn't want to... More

My partner and I plus 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights as part of a walking trip through Umbria. First impressions were positive: an attractive terrace in front of the hotel, a welcoming lobby and - after a longish walk up and down various steps - a good-sized room, well furnished in a traditional style plus a well-equipped bathroom.... The hotel is right in the centre of town and gets quite busy with the locals weekend nights but lots of atmosphere but the best bit is the hotel food is excellent - eat in evenings don't go out. We really enjoyed ourselves but not sure I would go back to stay just book the restaurant. The hotel rooms are... More

I stayed here for sometime and quiet loved it . Loved the food and variety served here. Internet quality was good. The owner also helped me rent an apartment for my stay in Spoleto . Overall a nice and warm place .I have good memories of Spoleto and Hotel Clitunno.

I expected a smaller hotel, smaller room but also expected decent dining room. Was on a tour, stayed 4 nights, and we were treated very well. The room was small and, I suppose because its built on a hillside,, there were 3 steep steps down into our bathroom...had to leave light on overnight so we didn't trip! But it was... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days as part of a tour of Italy and it was just dreadful. Our room was tiny, dusty and cold. The whole bathroom was the size of a telephone box, once you were in the shower you could not even shuffle round for fear of hitting the temperature gauge and freezing or scalding... More

We stayed two nights in this hotel in Spolleto. To reach it our tour manager had to get someone from the hotel to come to our drop off point and walk us to it. Tucked away in a quiet back area, the front of the hotel looks nice with the seating and umbrellas outside. There were both upright seats around... More

Interesting to see how this polarises views. The woman who wrote "Ignore the bad reviews" makes some good points - it is a family hotel and not a chain and the expectations need to be tempered, but we were on a trip across Tuscany and Umbria and this was the 6th such hotel we'd visited and was the poorest by... We had the unfortunate experience of staying in this hotel for two nights on a Shearings tour of Italy. The coach had to park 10 minutes away from the hotel and our luggage was transferred but we had to walk down a VERY steep slope carrying our hand luggage and stepping into doorways to avoid the cars. Not a good... More

We stayed in the hotel-owned apartments right next to the building. Our rooms were not adequately cleaned. The staff was helpful and friendly, but the owner and his sons were frequently rude and intentionally unhelpful. When several of our party were locked inside the apartment and some locked out due to the jammed door to our suite, the owner and... More
