This is an authentic castrum (fortified castle) from the middle age renovated with craft and taste. The owner fell in love with the place and there is no difficulty to understand why. The vistas are breathtaking. Rooms are small apartments, some with functioning fire places. Ours was situated in a tower built in the 8th century. The resort has an... More

If you flick through the photos you can see this is somewhere special. A lovingly restored castle with an interesting history that finds a wonderful balance between original features and modern comforts, it sits on a hill top with commanding views over the magnificent surroundings that you can enjoy from the delightful swimming pool or the terrace of the restaurant... Late February, on a cold day, we were the only guests. We were received very well by the owner, who speaks french but no English, and some younger relatives. Our room was nice, quite large and with a kitchen (of no value to us, but obviously for longer stay with a family, very useful). Heat worked very well. Minor negative:... More

We spent a week in the Zodiac Suite of Castrum Resort. The Castle is magnificent, with incredible views over the Umbrian countryside. The apartments are beautifully decorated with handmade fittings and original artworks throughout. Clean and spacious with heart and originality. Cats and rabbits wander the grounds and the pool is clean and a welcome addition. The absolute icing on... More

We spent an exceptional week at The Castrum Resort. The Castle is full of history and updated magnificently by the owners. A medieval castle with a modern restaurant a large salt water pool. The staff bent over backwards to fulfill our every need. Paolo the owner escorted two families to the largest man made waterfall in Europe. The staff then... More

My week at Castrum Resort was an amazing experience. It is beautifully situated in the Umbrian country side, on a hill top with a wonderful view of the serene village below. Our accommodations revealed exquisite tiles, rough masonry walls, hand-hewn beams, tile roofs, as well as a spa and salt water pool. The owner has restored this castle with impeccable... More

Our first acquaintance with Castrum Resort was at the Italy event in June 2011 at the castle of Haarzuilens (in the Netherlands). We met Sylvia, the Dutch hostess of Castrum Resort and she told us about the recently opened Castrum Resort in Strettura and the beautiful surroundings in the south of Umbria. So we decided to book the Mansarde appartment... More
