My wife and I can't say enough about this hotel. When we drove through the front entranceway...which was a pretty crazy experience since the road leading up to it was steep and windy, it was such an amazing place to stay. My wife first words were..."we're staying in a castle???" She was excited. Our room was huge with high ceilings.... More

Grand Hotel dei Castelli is indeed a former castle, built of grey stone, set high on a promontory overlooking the town of Sestri Levante and the sea on both sides. Although the town is unremarkable, it is a convenient and I suspect less expensive base for exploring the Cinque Terre region. The hotel is reached by a long sloping driveway... More

...and what a mistake! We were on our way from Bellagio to Tuscany and stopped in Sestri Levante for just one magical night. It was a bit hard to find the narrow cobbled road leading up to the hotel (had to drive through a church parking area) but it was well worth the trouble. Asked for a room with a... More

Stayed there with my wife for six nights. We booked garden view but could still see the sea from the 3rd floor. Huge rooms, high ceilings, very quiet, excellent bed. The breakfast is nothing to brag about but still OK. The food in the restaurant, though, was fantastic. The only real downside was the dismal internet reception in the room.... More

The hotel is a renovated castle overlooking the waters of Sestri Levante. Sestri is a nice beach resort town that is central to many landmarks / sights located in the Italian Riviera. My g/f and I stayed in one of the double rooms in the annex of the hotel. The room itself was quite large with modern amenities, but the... More

Loved this hotel and we were fortunate enough to get a lovely large room in the castle proper with a gorgeous view overlooking Sestri Levante! The entrance through the rock tunnel & ascending in the elevator was unique. I expected very weak wifi because of reviews here but it was excellent in our room. Some people in the annex had... More

This Castle now turned into a hotel, was once the home of Riccardo Gualino, an intimate friend of Nobel prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, and it was here on this property that he completed the experiments on blind navigations. The rooms are large, comfortable, and nicely decorated, the beds are a bit hard but I didn't have any problems sleeping. There's... More

This Hotel is an amazing building - our room was very large and everything was good EXCEPT for "Free Internet available in all areas". One of my pet peeves while travelling anywhere, is booking a hotel with free Internet to find it doesn't work - in this particular hotel, hardly anywhere: not in our room (anywhere), not just outside the... This unique hotel is a castle. Modern appointments in a stunning old building. The entrance is a cave to the elevator. It was so quaint. The bathrooms were very modern. The bedroom had all old antique looking furniture. The dining room was open and the food was excellent.
