My review of the Grand Hotel Dei Castelli mainly concerns the bar, which is an amazing place for a pre-dinner drink while watching the beautiful sunset spread across a view to die for. The hotel, which is open only in the season, consists of two small medieval castles, plus a chapel of the same period, all on a private small... More

This is a unique hotel in that you have to take an elevator at the road level to get up to where the actual hotel is located. The elevator is right in a huge rock formation at the bottom of the hill. When you get to the top, the views are wonderful. We had breakfast and dinner here on several... More

Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. The room size is very generous with antiques and a comfortable bed. The hotel staff are some what frosty and not very helpful. The wifi was not working and when I enquired the response seemed a bit hostile. It seems more of wedding venue than a hotel. There was a shortage of deck chairs... More

Sestri Levante is a very special place to visit but throw in the Grand Hotel Dei Castelli and it's perfect. Everything about the hotel is right. The staff were wonderful in every respect. The public rooms were light and spacious with magnificent pieces of furniture and pictures all spotlessly clean. The bedroom was large and well appointed with great attention... More

The location if phantastic. Views from the restaurant -- very delicious meals -- the garden and our room were just awesome. The walk around the private peninsula of the hotel was just great. While accommodation, service and meals were just great, we missed any activity for children. No playground or anything to play with we discovered. Important to note: the... More

This was easily the most beautiful place we stayed on our visit to the Italian Riviera - the restaurant , the staff, and the views were fantastic. The hotel has its own private beach and an elevator through the hill to the town below. The problems: our room had spartan accommodations (a bed on a steel frame with no box... More

The location of this place is really unique, and from the outside the building is really impressive, as is the whole castle area with the gardens and pathways around the castle area. The room also looks beautiful and keeps to the same style of the castle. But the bed was one of the worst I've slept in - a creaky... More

From the time we arrived early to the time of departure, the service was excellent. We stayed here last year and were wowed. This time was even better. Our room was faultless. The location is first class.

This hotel hit the wow factor for my husband and I. We stayed only two nights, would have loved longer. The room was sparce, but spacious, in keeping with an old castle, with a large bathroom, shower over bath. The restaurant was good, we ate there for all breakfasts and dinner. On our last night the staff advised us of... More

We were not as impressed as others. The castle has been well restored, but some of the internal furnisihings are rather pretentious. Our room was spacious and cool, but had low quality bath products and a cheap, ill fitting jacuzzi. Very helpful and smiling staff, particularly in the breakfast room, but why are hotels in this category still serving tinned... More
