The hotel is quite basic in what it offers and is reasonably clean. It's a great place for skiers to crash after a full day on a comfy bed and it's easy to get to the bars and restaurants of Sauze for a more upmarket experience. I was also told that the proprietor owns a ski school. The staff are very friendly with a satisfactory command of English and very helpful. The food was really tasty local fare and made for a really comfy stay if you're skiing all day and don't mind basic accommodation.

I booked this hotel halfboard through Neilson as I needed a single and a double room and I was looking for a resort that I could take a novice to. Yes I have stayed in better hotels, the food is plentiful but could easily be improved if they could keep the veg hot. The rooms are clean , hot water was great, bar was cheap, but when skiing you spend very little time in the hotel hopefully. We found the location near the lifts to be ideal and we could ski in to an alley at back of hotel which left a very short walk back to the ski storage room at the end of the day. I did not want to spend a lot and for the money I thought I did well. If you want more of a social life in evening there were plenty of bars nearby.

Stayed with friends who had stayed at the hotel in January and had complained to the rep about the food and staff. They were amazed at the transformation. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough to please us despite their English being poor we managed to get over what we were trying to ask for. The food was a hundred times better than it was in January and the waiting staff were genuinely keen for us to enjoy what they were bringing us. There is still no hot food at breakfast but there is plenty and it is all replenished without a fuss. The rooms are dated but are spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate for a ski holiday. We were able to ski right to the back of the hotel which was brilliant. The staff that were around when we left, lined up to shake our hands and kiss us goodbye and wish us a good journey home. Would definitely stay there again.

Like some recent posts I had gotten my pants in a bit of a bunch over the negative comments. On arrival these fears were quickly dispelled. Having visited Sauze last year staying at another 2* hotel Villa Cary, I hadn't intended in visiting the resort again. Though ended up being convinced to give it a try again by my son's. The service from Neilson rep Fi was really good, she was always contactable, happy & enthusiastic, with a good knowledge of the area. The staff at the Hotel Franco, Super Mario & the lady working in the restaurant & general front of house (don't know her name) couldn't have been better. They were always friendly, welcoming and made real efforts to communicate despite my lack of Italian & theirs of English etc. The hotel location is excellent, ok a bit of a trek up the hill with all your gear but doable & there is a shuttle van if you want to wait etc. We were in room 113 top floor two bedrooms & bathroom. Beds were reasonably comfortable, though a bit lumpy, bathroom was a good size unlike many budget hotels. Bedrooms basic, but clean, the heating was always turned on & it was warm, though I just opened the velux to let some air in etc, room furniture basic but functional. The food served at meal times was sufficient, with a pre booked menu from a choice of 3 selections for main, with starter & desert. Main meal of the day was complimented with a cold vegetable buffet, there was always plenty to eat. All guests were friendly and this was encouraged by the presence of the staff and their reactions to guests. Though it did get noisy, particularly from a group of 4 guys from Lancashire & a drunken impromptu expletive ridden of "Bohemian rhapsody" and the group of Taffy's at their 6 Nations result. Would I stay at the Miosotis again, without doubt, a superb location, direct access to the Clotes Lift, within 3-4 minutes of walking out the hotel door you were clipping into your skis. The only disappointment was the lack of recent snow fall, with sparse coverage in places, though it snowed heavily on Friday giving a very different ski experience Saturday despite the poor visibility. I'm glad I returned to Sauze and will defiantly stay at the Miosotis again if we return to Sauze again. Lastly the beer was only 3euro a pint, cheaper than any bar we visited

I was a bit worried about going here due to recent reviews but have just got back from a week skiing and had no problems with the hotel. Yes, the decor is very dated but the rooms were warm, clean and had constant instant hot water. The food was good, plentiful and varied. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bar prices were reasonable and there was free wi-fi in reception and one of the two rooms we had. You can ski up to the back door and the hotel is in the town with plenty of options for bars and restaurants if you want something different. I would caution that it is not suitable for anybody with mobility issues as there is no lift but other than that I would recommend and would go back.

Just back from Skiing with Neilson. Neilson reps looked after us very well and were always on hand to answer questions etc. Hotel Miosotis was warm, clean and had friendly staff (water was always hot). It is a 2 star hotel and is basic (very 70's décor), so don't expect luxury but it served us well. Food was also basic but good and most of the party I was with ate most of the 3 courses every night. If you wanted something different to eat then there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and bars to go to in the village. The hotel is well situated with a 5 minute walk to the chairlift and you can pretty much ski back down to the hotel. Sauze is well situated if you want to explore the resort of Sestriere (skiable with a couple of chairlifts) and 35 minute bus journey to Montgenerve (laid on by Neilson for 15 euros). So overall, a good time was had by all which of course was aided by some decent skiing even though the snow conditions were not the best (the day we left it snowed!!).

The Hotel Miosotis is only a two star hotel, so expectations shouldn't be high. Having read reviews suggesting that the hotel had changed hands this season and gone dramatically down hill it was with trepidation that we arrived for our week. The staff were very welcoming on arrival, the check in was as smooth as we could have wished for and the rooms were made available as soon as they had been cleaned after the departure of the previous guests...very unusual in my experience. I think that everyone had access to their room by mid day. The hotel do ask for your passports and put them in a safe along with your check in form, but we had no problem when we asked for them when going to Montgenevre, they were very aware that we were leaving early in the morning and handed them out promptly when asked for them. The staff were really lovely. Mario, Gino and Daniella were the 'front of house' team and all managed very well with understanding English, even tho they were not fluent English speakers, we had no problems with communicating with them whatsoever. The whole hotel is dated and in need of some love, but the rooms were spotless, the beds really comfortable and the pillows were so good I could happily have taken them home with me. The bathrooms have everything that you need...except a functioning shower in ours! We asked for a bath plug so that we could take a relaxing bath rather than a hand-held shower and it appeared in a few minutes. The food was rather hit and miss. I am coeliac and need to follow a gluten free diet which concerned me, but they understood perfectly well and provided alternatives where necessary. The pasta dishes and soups were always excellent, sadly the main courses left a lot to be desired. The vegetable and salad buffet was quite strange. Vegetables were warmish but there was lots of waste every evening which didn't seem to reappear in a different guise the following evening. It could be easily improved and time could be saved if a selection of the veg were served simply steamed to each table, with a help yourself salad bar. The wine list is really good and very reasonably priced, the 'house' wines were very cheap and very drinkable at 8€ a litre!! Breakfast would have been greatly improved by the addition some eggs. The huge quantities of sweet cakes and tarts at breakfast were remarkable. The coffee was good but the juices were more like squash and the flimsy plastic cups for water and juice were particularly horrible. Mario was always available in the bar for drinks, teas, coffees and conversation. You really couldn't ask for more helpful and attentive staff, all were lovely. We had a really enjoyable week here, took advantage of the fab restaurants in the village for a birthday celebration meal and another when we just wanted something better than the hotel offered. You really do get what you pay for....and we have no complaints whatsoever considering we paid less than half what we have paid for mediocre chalets in the past!!

This was our second visit to the miosotis hotel, we re-booked this year as it was fantastic last year. Well, this year was a complete change! Not in a good way either. Unfortunately, there has been a change in management and the new staff, although friendly could barely speak English which didn't help. Where to start... When we got there, the check in was quite quick and easy. However they do take your passports off you and don't want to give them back until you are leaving. Obviously, this is a problem if you fancy going to France for the day. If you decide to go out and visit some of the many bars, you will need to be let back in at reception; be prepared to walk through and stink of cigarettes afterward! Food & dining: We thought we knew what to expect as we had stayed the year before, on the first evening when we arrived for dinner at 8.15, we were rudely told 'dinner is served at 7.30' which made us feel like we were back at school. The fact that everyone was to arrive at the same time left the staff flustered and many tables waiting until half way through the second course before they were asked if they wanted drinks, oh and don't bother getting a Coke! It's not on the price list for a reason €8 for a half size can!! I was furious on checkout when I found out. There was only two of us, I hadn't finished eating but my husband had, they were quite rude when taking his plate away (I was still eating) asking if I was nearly finished. Now the food... We are out for two evenings, and I'm very happy we did. The food served was awful, some of the pasta dishes were okay, but only okay. The mains... Barely edible! You were served with a cold veg buffet, that if you didn't rush to get in the queue there would be nothing left. They never brought out new veg to refresh what was being offered, the food that was left (mainly sprouts and red cabbage with some cheese) was brought out the following evening. Or at least that's what it looked like. The 'hot' element to the main was at best only just edible. I accidentally knocked some pasta onto the table cloth one evening, the sauce remained on that table cloth for the rest of the week. It wasn't washed and put back, it was plainly not washed. We ended up getting something extra when we are out. The breakfast!! Served between 0800-0930 if you were a little late down for breakfast, all that would be left was Madeira cake and dry cereal! Literally, no water, no juice, no fruit, no milk, no TEA!! There was nothing hot or substantial on offer for breakfast which I felt was the one meal I really needed to eat if I was to get some good skiing before lunch. The day we left, there was actually nothing left. They not once offered to bring anything out, again, it was never refreshed on any day. Food = inedible! Take some extra cash there are some lovely places to eat and it isn't very expensive. Room: The room itself was clean and tidy. A little tired with the decor but as it was mainly only for sleeping in it was fine, the bathroom was also clean and tidy. As a married couple, we booked a double room. We were listed under Mr & Mrs. We got given twin beds. I don't find this a problem most of the time, we just push the beds together and it's all good. We had our first day skiing and came back to our room to get changed. The room had been cleaned, boxes for newly purchased helmets had been taken and disposed of! Which I wasn't happy about, but the worst thing, they had seperated the beds. Again we put them together, again they were seperated for a further two days. We then asked the maid (not reception as we'd already spoken to them) to leave the beds together, we got that back and they had been seperated further than any other days. By this point, I was getting very annoyed, it was made worse by the ongoing food saga!! In the end I told them to not clean the room at all! I love Sauze and all it has to offer. I know it is a budget hotel, and I really wish this hotel had lived upto how it was last year but I have to say I was disappointed and disgusted. I didn't expect to have to pay for extra food in the morning and then again after dinner because of the hotel being so bad. Save your cash, go somewhere else even a B&B would be better, we found loads of places to eat at not to much cost. We will return to Sauze, but I will never go back to this hotel!

Hotel Miosotis is a 2 star budget hotel so don't expect 4/5 star facilities. Located towards the top of the village adjacent to the Clotes chairlift, ideal location not having to wait for the bus or walking up the hill. Sportinia just a little further up, I wouldn't walk in my boots so caught the bus. You can virtually ski to the door ( if the snow is good ) unfortunately Jan 2016 wasn't the best. Arrived a little early, the rep did say rooms may not be ready, so sorted out our ski gear. Franco the manager checked us in. Our room was on the top floor no lift not a problem just an inconvenience, although walking up never seemed to get any easier. Quite a good sized room clean, tired in places but some effort had been made to brighten it up. Comfy bed no trouble sleeping. The bathroom a little cramped would have given more space without the bidet but non the less very clean, always plenty of hot water. Agree with the electric plug issues some were loose with my adapters and the heating was very hot but managed to turn down the thermostat on the radiators ( heard complaints from others at different hotels that they were too cold ) . Maid service every day, towels and linen changed mid week. Found the staff excellent whatever you asked of them they tried to accommodate. OK the staffs knowledge of English wasn't the best and they could usually understand what you were asking but we were in Italy not the Cairn Gorms. Mario the waiter / barman took his time to chat teaching us Italian words and phrases. The bar was very well priced for a hotel less than the more trendier places in Sauze eg. 8 euros litre of wine, 3 for a beer. Groups seem very popular at the Miosotis think we were the only couple staying at the time. Didn't use the boot room which I understand is small and not heated as we had hired our skis from elsewhere. Have read some bad of the reviews about the food breakfast was limited but always plenty to fill up on is advisable not to turn up too late as some things aren't replenished. Yes you choose your evening meal the night before 3 courses a choice of pastas or soup to start, the main usually meat, fish or vegetarian, always well presented. Loved the food so much we never went elsewhere. For the moment the night club next door is closed don't know if this is a permanent thing. I would recommend the Miosotis and would certainly stay here again if visiting Sauze D'Oulx.
