We took dinner here because of the location. The views and garden were lovely but the food was the worst I have eaten in Italy. My pumpkin gnocchi was undercooked with low grade artichokes and prawns in an awful sauce. But the worst were the vegetables that were so over cooked and full of water to be inedable. I haven't... Villa Maria is a very new facility in a very old area. Everything about it is spotlessly clean and modern. You won't be disappointed with your stay. Breakfast was simple elegant and always seemed to include home baked pastry. The drive to Villa Maria is not for the faint hearted You go up very narrow switchback roads that seem barely... More

The cooking school was part of a culinary/walking tour that we took in April. We got to cook in the summer outdoor kitchen which was great fun on a beautiful day. The chef was wonderful to work with, a taskmaster but we learned a lot. All the ingredients were fresh, and the recipes easy enough for us to repeat at... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and loved our stay. We hadn't realised that driving in would be quite tricky (the piazza was filled with pedestrians and negotiating our way through was interesting!) - but that was our error! The staff were very helpful and welcomed us warmly. We had a suite with a sea view which... More

We stayed here for two nights after we were married at Villa Eva. It is a stunningly beautiful hotel with a gorgeous 1930s type glamour and charm about it. The room had amazing, breath taking views and the breakfast was brilliant with loads of different things to choose from. The staff were lovely as well, extremely helpful. I really couldn't... More

Situated at the top of the town (more or less) the physical location is great with superb views down to the coast. Far enough away from the piazza to ensure quietness (and also to make sure you get your daily exercise going up and down) it is a very comfortable hotel. The rooms are small but well appointed and we... More

A gem of a hotel in a wonderful location. However if you are driving to it be warned its not a drive for the faint hearted! Narrow roads and the hotel car park a little tricky to get in to - however just ring the hotel and they send someone down to you and help you park and take your... More

Stayed here two nights and loved the experience. Staff were gracious and welcomed us warmly. Room was comfortable and spacious. Balcony provided a nice view to the sea and across the valley. Many options for breakfast and the breakfast sitting area is bright, with nice views. Hotel provides an especially nice environment for older travelers. Wish we had more time... More

We arrived here after a 3-night stay in Positano and were delighted to find that Ravello is a very different but equally breath-taking kind of experience. Fortunately I had read beforehand that the hotel's sister hotel, Hotel Giordano, offers free car parking so drove straight into the Giordano's car park with our hire car. The Villa Maria hotel is a... More

The hotel feels a bit like it's out of the 60's or so. I mean that as a compliment. We've stayed in any number of family-run hotels and pensioni in Italy over the years, and Villa Maria ranks high among them for character, comfort, and idiosyncratic identity. Even to the extent of a largely middle-class British clientele who know value... More
