An unbelievable country villa - not 4 seasons luxury but amazing old world charm and elegance. This is our fourth or fifth trip and every one has been great. The drive from Prato is short but not for the feint of heart. The two nearby restaurants are worth the trip with great food and lots of locals. If you like... More

I was looking for a place to stay that wasn't a very long drive from the Florence airport and happened upon Villa Rucellai in a fairly obscure little travel book. I stayed two nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. It felt a world away from the big city that was just a few kilometres away. Everything about... More

I loved every moment we stayed at the Villa. It is old worldly and grand. How could it not be when it was built at the end of the 1400's? To sit in the reading room surrounded by fabulous paintings and soak up the atmosphere sipping their home made wine was the pleasure of the trip. Our room was so... More

My husband was there on business and I there for R & R... It was so nice to take a step back in time and relax. We had just spent 4 days in Rome and we were ready to have some down time. Great areas to walk and explore the grounds, Olive trees as far as the eye can see...... More

The place is an old Renaissance villa with some more recent addictions (however, the main area for guests is the oldest). Said so, you understand that rooms and halls have that incredibly romantic appeal that you can find only in places like Tuscany, Spain and so on. At the same time, if you are looking for all the comforts of... More

9 years ago we were here with a 1 year old baby. We came back this time with 2 young children, stayed for 4 nights. We got 2 rooms at the ground floor - both connected through the bathroom. Due to the location and the structure of the villa, it was a bit cold at night but there are sufficient... More

For a quiet retreat in a grand old mansion amongst the olive trees in the hills outside Prato we recommend VIlla Rucellai. Our room was quiet and spacious with basic room services. There was no aircon but the room did cool sufficiently at night for sleeping. We loved the natural spring swimming pool which was a delight in the extreme... More

The Villa Rucellai was one of the highlights of our 16-day trip to Italy, and our best accommodations. We spent 6 nights there. We attended as students in a college class studying Art Appreciation and Environmental Biology in Italy, and the hosts made extra accommodations for us since our group filled up all the rooms. They invited local college professors... More

We stayed at the Villa Rucellai while visiting Florence, which is about 45 minutes away by train, and had an absolutely lovely time. The Villa Rucellai is like staying at grandma’s house. But grandma lives in a Tuscan Villa that was updated in the 1500’s. The rooms are pleasant, air conditioned and furnished with antiques that show some wear. The... More

We absolutely fell in love with Villa Rucellai upon our arrival; a lovely (at times nerve-testing) drive from Prato through the hills to the villa. Paolo, Francesca, and Frank could not have been more hospitalble. We loved the unique, spacious rooms--very clean. We only stayed two nights and particularly enjoyed our evening in the living room with Frank (and some... More
