Two weeks ago my family and I stayed in this hotel for four nights, and I tried to reread the reviews on this hotel to make sure that the reviews are for the same one, without a doubt each one has a different perspective on how one sees/evaluates things, however there are certain facts that should be told to others... We spent five days in Hotel Smeraldo and would highly recommend it. We didn't want to stay in a crowded tourist town and this hotel is brilliantly located in Priano, south of Positano. They have a fabulous view of the coast on their large terrace. Our room had a balcony with a lovely view, too. Their restaurant La Dolce Vista... More

I regret that we didn't discover this lovely, quaint hotel with a fabulous view of the Amalfi Coast until the day before we left Praiano. We had lunch and dinner there, the two best meals we had anywhere in Praiano. The family owners were so cordial, and provided very good service. The daughter of the owner graciously showed us a... I came here with my family on our first day in Praiano, and what a start they gave us at the restaurant of Hotel Smeraldo! We got a table with a fantastic view of the sea, the service was quick and very friendly, and the food was delicious. Just go there and try it out!

After 450 steps down and back to the beach, this hotel was a welcome find. Terrace restaurant all to ourselves for an early dinner of the delicious local grilled fish and white wine. Friendly host provided great service. Views with sun setting behind Position breathtaking, We were staying somewhere else so just commenting on the restaurant

We stumbled on this place after checking in at some of the local big name places, like San Pietro and the likes and were shocked by the prices, and we're not bargain shoppers, but on principle looked further afield and found this gem. Mostly Italians and European guests. A unique spot, upon the bluffs overlooking the Amalfi coast and Portofino.... More

Family-run hotel, with very friendly and attentive service. Well located in Praiano, which was a good choice of stay for visiting the whole Amalfi Coast. Parking is available, which is crucial in this region. Breakfast with good variety and tasty on the terrace with lovely views. Wi-fi only in lobby.

Hotel Smeraldo is a pearl in the hearth of Amalfi Drive. The hotel opened in 1957 in Praiano, at the time, an old fishing village. An excellent restaurant, specializing in local dishes, overlooks the bay of Positano and Capri. The garden, lobby, bar lounge, and staircase to the beach are all enjoyable and convenient attributes of the Hotel. But it is the warmth and kindness of the owners that make this the perfect vacation spot both during the relaxing winter season as well as the lively summer season. ... more   less
