I was skeptical about the B&B Fenice when my husband and I reserved our room here, mainly due to the fact that it is typically referred to as B&B Fenice and many people confuse this with not having any bathrooms in the rooms. Our room had a fantastic view of the marvelous coast and a good sized and very beautifullly... more

I have stayed here over 20 times and have never reviewed i before, but looking at some of the negative comments its time to "stick up" for the hosts and the accommodation. We have kept going back, because it is consistently good and authentic. Each year is like a homecoming and the hospitality is excellent. If you want to enjoy... more

We spent two nights at La Fenice with some close friends in the sea front rooms which have a shared bathroom between the two rooms and a large furnished terrace overlooking the sea, with views of Praiano to the left and some views of Positano to the right. I have stayed in Positano many times, half way up the hill,... more

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, and found it to be well worth it for the value. Yes, the breakfast is simple, with 2 or so pieces of bread, the homemade fig jams everyday, and decent tasting coffee, but having your own private beach along with a pleasant host and his family to help you with any questions... more

Pushed for my travel agent to book this hotel based upon Karen Brown's Guides review --be wary of those!--(against my agent's better advice, it being less than a four star hotel, which she NEVER books for clients). DUMP...and I do mean, DUMP. Rude owners. Bugs/mosquitos everywhere. If you only care about a low price place to rest your bug eaten... more

beautiful views. BUT incredible bites, wondering if I'll have scars. Dirty towels. Dirty Sheets. Rancid Butter. Stale bread. Owners somewhat rude. Owner would only take cash, presenting tremendous inconvenience. Would not return to La Fenice! more

Perched on the hillside just outside Positano, La Fenice was a beautifully tranquil guesthouse with views along the Amalfi coast. We stayed in a large and spacious room with period furniture. Simple but practical bathroom and terrace with a table, deckchair and swingseat. There is a lovely seawater pool which backs directly onto the cliff-face and steps down to a... more

My wife and I just got back from Italy and stayed at La Fenice. We had a wonderful time and couldn't speak more highly of the hotel and its owner. Costatino was great and treated us more as guests at his house rather than transients staying at his hotel. You'll be hard pressed to find a cheaper place to stay... more

Lovely setting, spectacular views, charming hosts and a decent location (July 2 2006 review - it is more like 10 minutes walking to Positano). The breakfast consists of coffee and a couple of bread rolls plus butter and jam, it is a steep climb to get to your room (clean but fairly basic as mentioned by other reviewers), and there... more

I booked 4 nights at La Fenice, to complete a 6 week European holiday. We were initially very impressed, as the view of the Mediterranean from our private room was magnificent. Our room was spacious and clean, although fairly basic. La Fenice is located within an easy walk into the town of Positano. Breakfast was cold coffee, and two breadrolls,... more
