We had a one bedroom plus sitting room which was a corner room with a huge outdoor double deck facing both West and South. The view was stunning and we loved the locatation. With so much to see in this village, an easy train or bus ride to La Cinque Terre, the 5 historical cliff side towns on the west... More

This is simply a terrible hotel. We were due to stay two nights but ended up leaving after only one night as the hotel and room was simply so poor ... Boarder line nasty in terms of cleanliness and warn out furnisher and fittings. There is one good thing and it's the location of the hotel, right in the town... More

Not sure the owners will keep it as a hotel (converted from a convent), but if they do it will remain as a prime location - if just a bit funky with elevators that you "transfer" on the dining room level! The view of the harbor and town is outstanding, and the breeze is too. It has old thick walls,... More

Ok so the place does need renovating, and a bit of a maze getting to the rooms (2 lifts and through the dining room) but we had a sitting room, a bedroom and a HUGE double balcony overlooking the village of Portovenere for 3 nights, the rooms and bathroom were very clean. The reception staff were friendly and helpful to... More

I booked on booking .com for 180 euros. Reading other comments they found the same rooms for 80 e. We did hear they are closing May 31st for badly needed renovations. This is not a 4 star hotel.

We arrived into Portovenere on 11th May at about 6pm on a glorious day having ridden our motorbikes across country from Bologna. We happened to park-up outside the Grand Hotel and we went straight in and enquired about availability for that night. Two en-suite double rooms were quickly confirmed at €80 B&B by the very friendly hotel receptionist who spoke... More

My wife and I stayed here from May 6 - May 8, 2012 and are still working our way through Italy. Of all the places we have stayed, this was the most disappointing. After a 9 hour flight and a 3 hour car ride, we were excited to get to Portovenere. It was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we were greeted by... More

What saves this hotel is the view from the window. Portovenere is a spectacular village and the hotel has full advantage of its beauty with the views from the room BUT the hotel was shabby, my room was cramped but clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Wifi costs a lot and it is difficult to stay connected, gave up... More

A beautiful hotel with an amazing view from your balcony. The staff were accommodating and i received a discount too. I did not eat dinner at the hotel as there were so many cafes to explore but breakfast was fine. A lovely experience.

Our trip to Portovenere was fantastic, could not have had a better view. The balcony looked straight out front, we loved it. The only negative side to it is it rooms need updating as does the front reception sitting areas. Aside from that we enjoyed it, it was great to come in and make yourself an coffee. We caught a...
