You should know about this hotel two truthful things. First: the tower really rings. Accept it and relax. And second: it is really good hotel. When we booked it, we were ready to the worst for such small price. It was a pleasant surprise when we have come to be in an excellent ancient building with spacious rooms and excellent... More

Yes, the bell tower rung every 15 minutes, 24/7. But I miss it now; it's part of the Orvieto experience. Hotel Posta, described by Rick Steves as "shabby" (and I highly regard Mr. Steves' opinion...) was perfect for me, as a solo traveler. Close to everything. Clean. Room 24 had a private bath AND easy access to the rooftop clothesline... More

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants, the cathedral and just about anything else there is to see in Orvieto. Be forewarned that the rooms and hotel are basic with older beds, old fixtures and bathrooms down the hall. That being said, the room had some lovely vintage furniture; was wonderfully warm on... I've stayed a couple of times, the second during some building work but both times it has been charming, comfortable place to stay in the middle of an amazingly beautiful town. It has the feel of a boutiquey type hotel, it looks a bit shabby and unassuming but matches the feel of the town.

I liked this place. It is located in the old city and is very convenient to everything we wanted to see. The room was comfortable. As for the clock tower that everyone likes to complain about, yes, it rings every 15 minutes. It has been ringing every 15 minutes since the 1300's. It seems kind of sad to complain about... More

If we had checked the map we would have noticed that Hotel Posta is located a block away from the bell tower Torre del Morro, and another bell tower... one or the other rings ever 15 minutes! 24 hours a day! Mattresses too firm for my taste, typical of european hotels with just a couple stars. I do better on... More

I stayed at Hotel Posta just one night and it was fine. The room was large but the bathroom small. It was comfortable but sparse. Nothing to write home about in terms of amenities but in a very convenient location and the good price was a welcome change!

First time traveling to Orvieto and I stayed at Hotel Posta. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the funiculare with nice shops along the way. There is a supermercato in front of the hotel which was extremely helpful! The hotel is right near the Duomo. A 30 second walk to the Duomo! The bells ring every fifteen... More

We stayed one night at Hotel Posta to be close to everything in Orvieto, and for a break on the budget. We were not disappointed. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Our room faced the garden and the church bells, but having heard about them, we closed the windows and shutters and had earplugs and slept solidly through... More

I have been to Orvieto a number of times and I love it but I have never stayed so close to the Duomo before and I am afraid I would not stay so close again. The bells toll every 15 minutes all through the night, and it is very hard to sleep through them. Apart from that, the rooms were... More
