We have just come back from a 6 night stay at Hotel Picchio. We had a nice room, very clean. All the staff were friendly and very helpful, they all had some English but not too much that we weren't able to practice our Italian. Breakfast was excellent at least 9 or 10 home made cakes, cooked meat, cheese, eggs... More

We had three lovely days staying in this hotel. The owner was very friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was ample, with an amazing selection of home made cakes as well as continental breakfast selections. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. Wifi was good. We had a great balcony too! The hotel was within walking distance of... More

The room smelled like feet and cigarettes, the ac barely worked, the linens were the cheapest possible, the bathroom was horrible, finally, the location is only good if you want to be near the station. It is far from the nice areas of ovierto.

if you travel by train and want to see Orvieto, this is the perfect place. You can catch a bus or the funicular near the train station for little money. But it is a long ride up or down from the city. So you lose out in time quite a bit. The hotel is a two-star hotel, quite nice, but... More

Simple but clean and great location near train station and funicular. Breakfast was good, the place is clean, the area is safe, with access to a parking garage a few steps away and rates are very reasonable. All we needed for a short stop in Orvieto. Internet was not very reliable, for some reason but worked in the end.

We needed a 'stop off' hotel for one night and this hotel was perfect. We arrived just before midnight with a toddler and two tired adults. The owner was very gracious, bearing in mind no night porter. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff friendly. Good garage parking and ease of access to walk... The lovely lady who runs this place is a gem!! The hotel is great as well, the breakfasts were the best we had in Italy..... I can't wait for her cookbook to come out if she ever gets the time. Choosing between 15 cakes and tarts was just too hard, just as well there is a steep, quiet path up... More

Lovely wee place, great staff and very good breakfast , where diets are forbidden in any language with a choice of around 10 home made cakes. Exceptionally clean.spotless in fact. Two minute walk from the station and the funicular. Path up to old town steep, but okay in daylight, and great views. Burns off the morning cake calories nicely in... More

Do you know that TripAdvisor commercial that talks about how a 4 star hotel experience turns into a 5 star experience? Let me tell you mine about the Hotel Picchio. We were looking for a hotel that was close to the car rental (for a return) and the train station, as well as a good value. Our GPS had a... More

I (middle-aged woman travelling solo) stayed for a night while visiting Oriveto. Frfiendly proprietor and very nice room-excellent breakfast with homemade cakes. You can either take the funicular up to town or walk the old path that leads straight up from the hotel's door. While steep, the path offers great views and a grand entrance into the town through the... More
