My wife and I spent one night here so we could tour the old city of Orvieto. We stayed in the new section, a new building directly across the street from the main hotel. The hotel is located just two blocks from the train station and is also very conveniently located if arriving by car. It is right in the... more

It was a bit uphill to the hotel, but not too far to drag your bags. We decided to stay near the station as we were not sure about how easy to travel to the top. It would have been very easy. The Funicular station is just opposite the railway station. If you were catching an early train on departure,... more

we stayed there for 1 night. We were really satisfied with the only exception that it was rather noisy. The noise isolation between rooms is rather poor and we had neighbours who talked half of the night. Parking in the garage is just across the street and the funicular to the historic center is only 3 minutes away. Breakfast was... more

We chose Hotel Picchio for 2 main reasons: easy, on-site parking and walkable distance to the funicular up into the city center. It satisfied both these requirements well--the parking garage was very convenient (not the tight little spots you often find in Europe) and fully secured. It was about a 5 minute walk to the funicular and bus ride into... more

Ovieto has a historic district on top of a plateau, and a newer section down below. Everythig costs more up on top. This hotel is down below, within 200 meters of the train station and the funiculare that takes you up and down the plateau. For $60 euros per night, this was definitely the best bargain of our whole trip... more

We stayed here in September 2007 for three nights. Our hosts were so charming and accommodating we wanted to some back and use Orvieto as our base for a longer stay. The owner, Allesandra, and her staff were wonderful. Our room had a great balcony with a view looking up to the hill city of Orvieto. This hotel is just... more

Wow, we loved it. One of the biggest bathrooms in Italy! Rooms were spotless. Locked garage parking. Private balcony with a view to die for. A/C was extra, but we did not need it, a nice breeze blew all evening. While not in the walled city, it was a nice 15 minute walk to the ancient walled city. Up an... more

This hotel wa PERFECT! The staff was awesome, they helped us carry our lugguage to our room, when everyone else in Italy just pointed. The service at breakfast was fabulous and tasty. Homemade cooking......delicious. The hotel is a hike though! Be prepared to go uphill, this is orvieto, on a mountain after all! The staff spoke very good english, and... more

Hotel Picchio was ideal for our 2 days in Orvieto. Just a short 300 metre walk from the railway station up a rather steep hill. We chose the superior room which is located in a new building just across the street from the main reception. As with most european hotels the room was small, however was modern, clean and well... more

This is a very nice hotel at a good location for travelers. We stayed there just 1 night, traveling to the Amalfi Coast. The hotel is close to the highway and the busstation. At the busstation we took the bus up to the city for a short visit. (to short). The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean. We... more
