Worth it for a night or two in Orvieto. Owner is a delight, she works very hard to ensure your stay is pleasant and she bakes a great variety of breakfast cakes. Options for food in the area are minimal. Recommend lunch up in Orvieto be your main meal treat of the day. There are inexpensive dining choices available near... More

The small hotel is located outside the old town of Orvieto . It is very near to the train station of Orvieto and since the old town can not be entered by cars -not local- it is a good place to stay. There is a cable train to the center or a bus .Rooms are clean and Ok for a... More

The hotel is located about 2 min from the Orvieto station on foot. The room we stayed, in the new part of the hotel, was extremely clean and very comfortable. They provide a rich breakfast, with many delicious italian home-made cakes/pies, besides eggs, breads, etc. It is very cheap and worthy for a one-night or a longer visit. The staff... More

Upon arrival we feared it would be just another small, family run guest house, but it turned out to be a whole lot more! The hotel is just 2 min walk from a Funicolare station from where you can get to the Rocca for 1euro/person in just a couple of minutes. The owner greeted us, showed us to our room... More

Was greeted warmly from the owner herself, who advised she had upgraded me to one of her new hotel rooms. It was very clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious. It is located 5 mins walk from train station and cable cart to get up to the main city which is only a 2 minute trip up the hill. Even though... More

We stayed two nights in this hotel at the feet of Orvieto. It is in a steep hill, about 200 m from the funicular and the main train station. We did not stay in the main building, but in an apart block just opposite. We could choose in between two triple rooms. The room was nice, big, clean with one... More

It was great to arrive in a clean, comfortable room late on a raining night. The landlady/ hostess was kind enough to let me wake her up at 11pm when my flight was cancelled last minute and delayed my arrival by a 5 hours. I found the bed wonderfully comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets on hand. The room was... More

What a charming place to spend the night after visiting Orvieto. The owners are amazing, and the breakfast was the best we had in our 2 weeks in Italy. This place felt authentic and welcoming, and was a wonderful change after leaving Naples. The car rental was right down the street.

The hotel was very convenient for the train and close to the funicular to take you up to the old town, you have to be careful as this finishes at 8.30pm although you can get a bus down later. The owner was very helpful and couldn't be more informed as to the sights to visit in the area. The breakfast... More

We arrived at Hotel Picchio after a 13 hour flight from Hong Kong, and trains from Fiumicino Airport to Rome and Rome to Orvieto. We were greeted immediately by the owner, Giovanna, and for the next four nights, nothing was to much trouble. She insisted on helping with our luggage. She made the most delicious cakes for breakfast (or even... More
