We decided to stay at this Hotel as it was near the station and not far from the Funicular that takes you up to the old town. If arriving by train as we were be aware that this nice little hotel is a little way up quite a steep hill which continues on up to the old town of Orvieto,... More

I was a little concerned when I exited the A1 and saw the rows of shabby looking hotels that lined the main street below the city walls. But, I was pleasantly relieved when I pulled up to Hotel Picchio, and the experience improved from there. Julia greeted me and graciously tolerated my poor attempts at speaking in Italian. But, we... We stayed here on October 8th on the way from home to Rome. The choice was due to the fact this Hotel is located near the railway station. However we'd never repeat this experience. The room we got had a peculiar smell of rotten eggs and sewage which stayed with us the whole night. The kind landlady suggested to let... More

We stayed for three nights.Julia and her staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. The room in the new accomodation was spacious, clean and comfortable and we had a small balcony we enjoyed. The highlight was the breakfast and the delicious home baking which gave fresh choices daily. JUlia could give Nancy Birtwhistle (winner of the great British Bake Off) some... More

An English speaking lady provided information while checking us in at 1PM. She escorted us to the garage, up to our room, then provided keys for the 2 night stay. This well managed family hotel complex provides spotless, modern, and quiet rooms at a reasonable price. The full breakfast was complimented by an array of delicious homemade baked goods. Its... Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is within easy walk of train station but uphill. Staff were very pleasant and freely gave information. Room was comfortable though my bathroom shower bracket was broken so had to hand hold the shower. Free wifi, no air con but a lovely little balcony to drink the local wine purchased from the hotel. Lovely... More

We stayed three nights in early July in Room 112, ½ flight up from the street. Mrs. Picchio has 3 or 4 buildings on this side street. The room was very nice and modern looking. The room and bathroom were a good size and clean. There was little traffic on what appeared to be a dead-end street, so the room... More

As you know, Orvieto, most of it anyway, is a hilltop town. There is part of Orvieto that is at the base of the hill and the funicular. And that is where Picchio is located. We made the decision to stay at the bottom, 2 blocks from the train station and the funicular that takes you up to the town... More

We have just come back from a 6 night stay at Hotel Picchio. We had a nice room, very clean. All the staff were friendly and very helpful, they all had some English but not too much that we weren't able to practice our Italian. Breakfast was excellent at least 9 or 10 home made cakes, cooked meat, cheese, eggs... More

We had three lovely days staying in this hotel. The owner was very friendly and spoke English. Breakfast was ample, with an amazing selection of home made cakes as well as continental breakfast selections. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. Wifi was good. We had a great balcony too! The hotel was within walking distance of... More
