and we could not have been happier with the reception we had when we arrived...front desk staff very nice, Jude, the all around person very helpful and very nice....the room nice and clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable...small as one normally expects in Europe, specially since this is a renovated "palazzo" parking not easy but the staff helps... The service was pretty awful. The front desk staff was unfriendly and not very helpful, even going so far as to insist that we didn't need a dinner reservation when we asked them to make one for us, and sending us to a restaurant that was full, and another that was closed. Turns out, a reservation would have been useful!... More

I recently stayed at this hotel for eight nights while I was exploring Umbria by auto. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The car parking area was a bit of a walk from the hotel and every morning one of the staff (generally the woman who takes care of the breakfast area and who is delightful) would have to... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our honeymoon while visiting Orvietto. It reminded me of a Spanish style villa and was on a quiet street about 5 minutes walk from all the action. I suggest taking the bus or taxi to the hotel though as it's a good mile up a hill to get there on... More

Lovely room, great queen bed, great location. Nice to come home to after a day exploring lovely Orvieto. The staff were very friendly and obliging. Breakfast was very nice with a great selection. Definitely stay again.

This was our second stay at Palazzo Piccolomini. We stayed again in a bright and airy 2 level suite, and again the bed was a little hard. As before, Jude and his staff were extremely helpful, making reservations for dining, and for wine tasting at a local vineyard. They kindly brought ice and wine glasses to our room each evening,... Palazzo Piccolomini was a great stop on our tour around Italy. It is located right in the middle of Orvieto, an easy walk to see all of the sights. The staff was friendly and the rooms were great. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

My husband I just got back from an overnight stay at the Palazzo Piccolomini. It is a really nice hotel in a great location. Close to all you want to do, yet far enough away that it is quiet at night. Free continental breakfast each morning. Jude at the front desk was very helpful in trying to get our premium... More

Nice hotel in 2 palazzos (1400's and 1600's palaces) nicely updated. Our room, the Ranieri suite, was remarkable. Two levels with a great bath with jacuzzi tub. See it on their site. Jude, the night manager, was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is adequate but not sumptuous. Walking distance to everything, as it is a small hilltop city. Minor wi-fi... More

The Piccolomini is probably the nicest hotel in Orvieto. Its location is great, within walking distance of all the attractions of this city. The hotel itself is not luxurious, but its history makes it very interesting. A home of the Piccolomini family, which produced two popes, it has been restored beautifully. We had a junior suite (No. 202), which was... More
