My wife and I stayed one night and wish we could have stayed longer. It's a 15 minute walk to the Old Orvieto. The rooms are super clean, the staff is very helpful and welcoming. We took advantage of the pool for half the day, had our own wine and lunch in their garden.

After one night in an uncomfortable hotel in the centre of Orvieto, I had the good fortune of stumbling across the Villa Ciconia online and thought I would give it a go. The building, the family who own it, and the staff are all wonderful. I booked in for one night and stayed for over two weeks.

Sometimes I wonder if the place I stayed at was the same as that reviewed by others. We stayed two nights here in September 2014 and had a wonderful time. Our room was large, the bed was comfortable, the ambience, medieval sumptuous, and the grounds beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating. On our second night we shared a bottle... More

Stayed twice in October. Very charming with helpful staff, beds incredibly hard as just thin mattress on old fashioned spring base. I asked to be upgraded on second visit as we had to drop hire car back in Ciconia. The room was just bigger & bed the same. The resturant is good & the locals use it as nothing much... More

We stayed in nine different accommodations during our recent trip to Italy. Because the following experiences have been fairly consistent from place to place, I offer them not as criticisms but as observations on cultural differences. We found beds VERY firm, showers small, and rooms highly scented (I am very sensitive to room deodorizers and funky smells.) Villa Ciconia was... More

The hotel shows lack of maintenance and renewal. The hotel uses its wonderful façade to attract customers, but, inwardly, it is a completely different story. The gardens around the house and the swimming pool are not properly kept. I cannot recommend this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful - they let us check in early which was wonderful since we had been flying. Our room was large and very quiet - the thick stone walls are great for sound proofing. We had a crying baby next door and could not hear him until we stepped out into the common area. The... More

This hotel was very easy to find with onsite, free parking. It is at the bottom of the hill and Orvieto, itself, sits atop the hill. Villa Ciconia is actually a beautiful old manor made into a small boutique hotel with a beautiful outdoor pool. The manor was fascinating and our very charming room (#24) full of character was large... More

We stayed here for 8 days in March/April 2013 for a family vacation. There were 13 of us on the trip and we'd stayed here previously in June of 2007 with 10 people. The rooms are simple and spacious. The building is very old and charming and there are some indications of the age as the bathrooms are fairly basic... More

Never seen a hotelroom like this before: We felt like we were living in ancient times for a while. The history of this villa is still breathing through the walls. And still, it is very comfortable (good bed, nice bathroom) for the demanding guest of modern times. You would expect a formal staaf in a place like this, but we... More
