Considering ourselves 'amateur chefs', we searched the offerings from 'Cooking Vacations' to find a location for our desire to travel with our very close friends to not only enjoy Tuscany, but to learn from it's many varied flavors and customs. We chose Villa Ortaglia because of the promise of personal cooking lessons but also escorted trips around the region. We... More

I felt right at home from the moment I stepped foot on this amazing property. The vistas from the pool, the house, and the grounds immediately let you know you are in the Tuscan region of Italy. This being our first trip to the area, I was afraid the beauty would be overrated, but not at Relais Ortaglia. Combine this... More

Let me start by saying we are picky about travel accommodations. Having said that, my husband and I just stayed 4 amazing nights at Relais Ortaglia. Terenzio and Mara are wonderful hosts and made everything easy and comfortable. We decided not to rent a car so Terenzio very graciously picked us up at the train station, arranged taxi service, and... More

It's been 8 years since my last visit to Ortaglia / Tuscany and Ortaglia is as charming and beautiful as ever! Loved waking up to its surroundings. Amazing! Terenzio and Mara are the most gracious hosts, and very knowledgeable about wine & Tuscan cooking. I love them to pieces! I highly recommend this place - lovely rooms, wonderful breakfast spread... It has been quite some time since I stayed here, but I did want to write up a review as this villa is worth it! This was at the end of a week and a half visit to Italy, and it was an incredible way to relax and destress from the hustle and bustle of Rome and Florence. The owners... More

the Relais is very nice : large swimming pool, nice garden and view, calm. However we would have appreciated for this range of price a hearty breakfast, renewed better, and a much better bedding. And maybe a chair for baby (however there was a baby bed)

As we were admiring the view of Montepulciano from our car, little did we know that we had arrived at Relais Ortaglia. Our experience here was truly Tuscan. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The grounds were beautiful. Vistas of Tuscan vineyards, a beautiful pool, and Montepulciano in the background were amazing Our owner/hosts provided us with meals, stories, conversations,... More

Thank you Mara and Terenzio. Relais Ortaglia was the perfect base to explore Tuscany. I enjoyed my early morning coffee time with Mara and our wonderful tours of Tuscany with Terenzio (let Terenzio order lunch for you on his tours). We never tired of the view over the vineyards and looking up at the lovely town of Montepulciano (3 minutes... More

My wife and I last visited Relais Ortaglia 3 years ago as part of a week long tour of southern Tuscany and Umbria as well taking some cooking classes with the wonderful hosts, Mara and Terenzio, and in Montepulciano. It was one of our best experiences in a lifetime of some pretty good travels. This years experience was shorter and... More

Dearest Frank and Angie, you know that it always a great pleasure for me to have you here at Ortaglia. This year you arrived the day after the wedding of our son, that's why Mara was not here. Our son took so many years to decide to get married ( 41 !! ) that the italian Mama had to supervise... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
“Between Arts and Paridise”. This certainly is the most appropriate way to describe the location of our farmhouse. In fact ORTAGLIA is casted towards the art of Montepulciano, with its roofs which show all the shades of garnet red, and the dome of San Biagio, third in the word for wideness and significance. On the same time the hill where the farmhouse stands out is plunged into the tranquillity and the charm of the tuscan countryside, muse of famous artists and poets. On the top of this hill, between art and paradise, in the middle of seventeen century have been laid the foundations of the ORTAGLIA farmhouse. ... more   less
