We spent 3 nights, 4 days in Montecatini, with Hotel Astoria as our Tuscany base. The hotel is located on a slight hill in walking distance of the Spa's, park, funicola, train station & shops, restaurants and cafés. We stayed in room 120 on the 4th floor, there is no lift between the 3rd and 4th floors but there are... More

Good location and ok garden and swimming pool. We accepted the this room we were presented. Terrible beds kept the night short and we left a day ahead of schedule. The whole hotel was in fairly pool shape. It had clearly been a great hotel 20 years ago.

First of all to those who question the star rating - remember we are not talking UK ratings, but Italian & this hotel deserves its Italian rating - if you want a UK 4* then stay in the UK! Also, as far as the staff speaking English is concerned, they make a better job of it than many staff in... More

The hotel has a great location to reach all the local bars and shops. The train station is only a 10 min walk. Pisa and Florence both 50mins by train. The hotel states 4 star but I don't think it is UK 4 star. Its very clean and pleasant but very old fashioned. However this does add to its charm.... More

1. Good quality (thick) towels would do good 2. Replace batteries in smoke detectors in common areas 3. Empty an "ashtray" in the elevator 4. Use some Domestos or thick bleach to clean bathroom tiles, etc, to get rid of the mould. 5. Do not warm up "industrial" filled croissants (warm they taste even more dreadful) 6. Get read of... More

Spent 2 weeks here and loved it. Rooms are basic and furniture old but rooms large and plenty of space. Cleanliness was amazing. Lounge areas were relaxing and 3 areas to choose from. Pool spotless and the spa area great. Staff may not all have spoken English but did everything they could to help. Not sure why some people are... More

This feels like what it is - a gracious Victorian hotel in an equally gracious Spa town. It's probably the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed in. Pillow cases changed daily! Very traditional service and none the worse for that; the staff being, without exception, pleasant and helpful. We stayed seven days which can be a bit much anywhere as hotel... More

Very nice hotel, rooms were large with plenty of closet and drawere space. It might have been a bit dated, but very clean with all amenities Since we were on a small guided tour we ate breakfast and dinners there. They were very accomodating and the waitresses were super and aimed to please, It almost felt like I was a part... More

This is a typical 4 star holiday hotel, catering for many holiday companies and individuals. The facilities are as expected although it must be due modernisation before too long. The owner was fantastic when I had a medical problem and spent a long time with me at the medical centre. The staff are very courteous and professional. I found the... More

Myself and 2 colleagues stayed at The Astoria last night on business-NEVER AGAIN!! Pluses-lovely gentleman on reception Negatives-served "fish and chips" and charged €20! Rushed through dinner by staff preparing tables for the morning. Final straw being chastised by the owner for daring to want to check out at 6.50am as we were on a tight schedule. We were even...
