Let’s call this place out for what it is, a concession, a markdown, a compromise. For those selecting Montecatini as a destination, Settentrionale Esplanade is already only average. As for those forced here as part of a tour package, get ready for disappointment. Like a Michael Bay movie, outside of the pretty sunset and attractive passing women, there’s very little... More

While I'm not clear why you would go to Montecatini (tho supposedly it's a "spa" town) if you're there, this hotel is nice enough but with very tiny (and dark) rooms. My single room (#253 in the main hotel) had a lovely view out to the front piazza, but only about 75 watts of total lighting. Once my suitcase was... More

I recently stayed at this hotel Half-Board on a Travel Department Holiday from Dublin. I have to say it was the most disappointing holiday I've been on. The Classic Tuscany tour (which was not cheap considering it was the end of the season) was let down by the poor quality of the food and the aged dusty hotel. Dinner time... More

We stayed here two nights on our Globus tour and we really weren't impressed with our rooms. Our particular room was very small and our bathroom was extremely tiny. We stayed in the annex building across from the main hotel and our room had a beautiful view. Dinner at the hotel was very good when we ate with the group... More

We were there in September 2014 booked with the Travel Department. The room was across the street from the main hotel. The room was quite large, a large comfortable bed, had a balcony facing the terrace of the main hotel. The bathroom was a reasonable size, while there was plenty of hot water there was sometimes only a trickle from... More

We stayed for 1 week in early September 2014 as part of a tour with the Travel Department. We were allocated a room across the street from the main hotel. The room was quite large, a large comfortable bed, walk -in wardrobe and had a balcony facing the terrace of the main hotel, but the room needed refurbished. The bathroom... More

The main hotel may just be classed as 4star but the annexe where we stayed was well below that rating. The room was very small and in need of TLC, as for the shower room, it was cramped and the shower didn't work very well, as did the extract fan and cold water tap. You had to go over to... More

My husband and self stayed at the Settentrionale hotel for one week after booking with the Travel Department from Ireland. On arrival at the hotel we were impressed by the very nice reception area and dining room but after going up to our bedroom we were disappointed with our room which we felt was needing updating, the curtains really did... Our family stayed here with a bus group for one night. The hotel was older but clean, The bath towels were the size of a linen kitchen towel, The grounds are nice, and right around the corner there were vendors and shops selling all kinds of things, It was nice to walk around after a long bus ride.

As soon as we got to this hotel it was like a step back in time (see photos). The rooms were unique and not typical of the modern hotel rooms we normally stay in. The rooms were very comfortable and looked to be from another era. I've read some of the other reviews and this hotel needs to be appreciated... More
