I would highly recommend this charming little hotel. First and foremost, the best quality of the hotel is the fact that it is just across the canal from rail station. If anyone has been to Venice, you can't imagine how confusing the city is for newcomers and not a place you want to be dragging your luggage around lost in... more

Very charming if slightly faded Hotel with everything we needed for a short stay.Breakfast was more than adequate and it was lovely to eat it in the garden.Rooms very clean. Our room overlooked the Grand Canal with 3 large widows and a small balcony.Didn't get a discount so quite expensive but this is Venice.Just perfect for our needs, would stay there again. more

Venice is the the absolute perfect example of how the entire Italian hotel star rating system lacks any hint of credibility. I have traveled to Italy for 40 years & truly love the country, & have been to Venice dozens of times which is a crown jewel among cities. Having said that however, I long ago stopped giving any credibility... more

We stayed here for 2 nights. Easy location from bus station with the exception of having to haul luggage across steps and bridges. I found hotel staff to be very unfriendly. No lift and very difficult lugging heavy luggage up to the first floor. Rooms very dated. Bathroom is very tiny and toilet is right in front of shower so... more

After traveling for 24 hours to reach Venice I was informed that there was an electrical problem and I would have to be moved to a "very nice" sister property two doors down. I believe they overbooked the hotel and moved me for that reason as the lights, computer and security system were all working. Guests were walking in and... more

My husband and I travelled to Italy for our honeymoon and we couldnt have been happier with the Canal and Walter hotel. Our room didnt have a view, but for as much time you spend in the room itself it wasnt an issue for us. The breakfast was tasty(we smelled the fresh croissants every morning at 5 am!) and it... more

Having read the many mixed reviews on this site I was concerned as I booked this three night getaway as a birthday present for my other half, and I wanted it to be very special. Getting to the the Hotel and Venice was very easy from Marco Polo airport. €3 each single by local bus to the Piazza Roma (main... more

Yes this is an older hotel that could do with a bit of work. But think about this - Venice on a budget???? I actually really loved this hotel because the price was just so great, it was so close to the train station and the customer service was fantastic. I was also over the moon to have a huge... more

I stayed here for a few days in Oct with my girlfriend. Its VERY close to the Piazza Roma just down from the new bridge across the Grand Canal. Perfect if you have lots of luggage. The hotel was a bit old and faded, but in a nice way. The room wasn't huge but it was clean and had AC... more

After seeing mixed reviews on this website we decided to test of our luck and stayed at the hotel for one night during the peak summer season with my mum and sister. We were put in a small room at the back with a not so pleasant view of the next door neighbouring local housing. We didn't really care about... more
