This place should be a lot better than it is if some money spent on it. stayed one night in a bed that was far from comfortable resulting in little sleep. Generally grubby and tired looking rooms and bathrooms. Only highlight being a hearty breakfast.

We didn't stay in the hotel. The Marquis is on the up. It has suffered over the last few years but the new management are making a real effort to put it back on the map. My wife and I have had several meals here as of late and we like the atmosphere and the food. They are very competitive... More

We booked this hotel for a three night break. We did read the negative reviews but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. A big mistake. On arrival we were taken to our room which was up some outside stairs across a flat roof area which had large puddles of water on it due to recent rain and... More

A really friendly place and a good hearty breakfast. In the room the bed was clean but everywhere was a bit grubby and had an unkempt feel to it. There was also a loud noise which cut in several times which woke us. Overall a bit disappointing.

My mother and I stayed overnight between interviews. We arrived late in the evening. We were shown our room. The room was very good - spacious and clean. The breakfast was fantastic hot and plentiful. We would recommend and stay again.

If you are looking for what is a typical British Pub and traditional food..this is the place. Except the quality of the food and portions is what you could describe as the best fish and chips ever and best English full breakfast...outstanding! The rooms are picturesque and cozy. The staff are very friendly and will accommodate every need. The prices... More

We popped into here on the off chance on a Friday night. Table for two in the restaurant room. . I had the trio of Lincolnshire sausages and a 'mountain' of mash with very nice gravy and veg. My wife had the chicken dish. The food was very good pub food and excellent value considering what other local pubs charge.... More

Arrived late in the evening at this pleasant hostelry and was shown to a cosy room which was clean and well stocked with tea and coffee making supplies.Despite the lateness of my arrival I was still able to have a cooked meal and a very nice pint of real ale.My breakfast was excellent and I can honestly say at £35.00... It wasn't very nice, I'm afraid. The landlord and staff were pleasant enough. The pub was fine. The beer was good. The village is very picturesque. BUT. The room was out the back and completely characterless. There was one picture on the magnolia walls and that was so pale it seemed to fade into the paintwork. The carpet was filthy.... More
