Old hotel in the center of the old Town. Garage at groundfloor. Book the own Umbrellas at the beach, best choice. In the very north of Italy. Everytime a good area to stay. The sea and the beach is perfekt for Children. The city has a lot of very good restaurants and nice bars. You can go shopping in the... More

We were satisfied but not thrilled by our stay in the Grand Astoria. Location is good - but how the owners must have bemoaned the erection of a concrete monstrosity between them and the sea. One of Grado's attractions for us is the ability to promenade for miles and the hotel is lietrally 100 metres from the seafront. Buffet breakfast... More

The Grand Hotel Astoria was wonderful for our Christmas stay in Grado. The hotel and restaurant staff are courteous, multicultural and extremely pleasant. The hotel is centrally located within a block or two of the coastline. We had a suite which was well appointed, very clean, with a comfortable layout and a really nice terrace. The bathroom was large and... More

Location and service are up to five stars in this Hotel. Centrally located ,practically on the beach but also close to restaurants and shops. Hotels in Grado are mainly old style and not necessarily sleek and modern, but the great service will make you forget all that. Restaurant by the pool on top floor is arguably the only restaurant with... More

The Astoria is a great place to stay in Grado comfortable and centrally located. They provide free bikes to tour around Grado and you are a short drive or bus ride from the sites of Aquileia, Palmanova and Trieste. The food is very good. It was a relaxing place to stay, with a swimming pool and a very beautiful view along the beach front. The food was excellent and the personal service touch to the customers was remarkable. I came back twice because its an amazing experience!

This hotel has an excellent location, near the beach and just 7 mins walk from the old city. In the surroundings you have nice restaurants, bars and shops. My single room was small but very nice. The location is perfect. The hotel feels like, looks like and smells like nothing has changed since the 70's. A typical problem with many Italian hotels. No electrical outlets to charge your gadgets, no free wifi, old and dirty covers on the beds, a tv with a gas tube (yes they still exist), an old ugly desk, and I could... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Grand Hotel Astoria was built at the beginning of the 20th century, when Grado was the Habsburgers’ and Middle European aristocracy’s Summer resort, with the name of Hotel Lido. The Hotel knew glory and smartness being the seat of the local casino. It was completely rebuilt and reopened in 1991, continuing its role of hotel with style, quality and elegance, like an island in the island, for its completeness and quality of its services.Tradition and modernity, this is the philosophy of the Grand Hotel Astoria, a 4 stars hotel located in Grado historic centre, few kilometres from the beach, exactly between the historic area with the ruins from the Roman period and the wide boulevards of the city centre, ideal for a completely relaxing seaside holiday.ITALIANOL' Hotel Astoria, splendido Hotel 4 stelle di Grado in Friuli Venezia Giulia, nasce all’inizio del 1900, quando Grado era ancora meta delle vacanze al mare degli Asburgo e della nobiltà Mitteleuropea, con la denominazione di Hotel Lido.L’albergo conobbe fasti e gloria, essendo tra l’altro, sede del locale Casinò. ... more   less
