A truly beautiful setting and building, this hotel is a visual treat. When we were there, there seemed to be no other guests staying, which was pretty odd for such a massive hotel. Staff were sligtly dismissive of us (I'm not sure our shorts and sandals were appreciated!). Great setting, but far from 5 star service. more

It's a huge, but quite empty hotel. The pool is enormous - but no one there (in July). Maybe because the water was very cold. We didn't pass another guest in the halls when we stayed there. We were there for a week. It is a beautiful property--very elegant. We had a great corner room with a tiny balcony. This is quite a hotel of course, an impressive Versailles-style palazzo, golfcourse, swimming pool, gardens, etc, formerly a foreign ministers residence, and surprisingly enough also of Lazio Roma, the football (soccer that is) club. We stayed 4 nights as part of a business conference and found the experience quite relaxing. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. There is an air of old world grandeur and service was good and attentive. I would consider returining here for a private holiday. more
