The Hotel Duchessa Isabella has been a big disappointment. A real shame considering that Ferrara proved to be a lovely city where is easy to spend a nice week end away, if not ruined by the poor service and the bad attitude of the people, as we did face in this hotel; The position of the hotel is fantastic, located... This hotel is WAY past its prime --- shame, given the potential of this great old building and location and character. Service was just outstandingly abysmal --- refused to deliver inroom dinner at 730pm because 'that staff had gone home'; didn't set the air conditioner on entry, then unable to get it running at all, AND did not offer another... I stayed at this hotel during the Festival of the magazine Internazionale as I was one of the international speakers. It was the worst hotel I have stayed in. The hotel is incredibly dirty, we found finger nails on one of the bed side tables, pubes in the toilet and dead spiders on the floor. The staff is extremely rude,... More

I had a really great and romantic time in this cosy and charming historical place! The restaurant is a fantastic small and "home feeling" boutique with high level of service in line with the tradition of hospitality of the city (Ferrara) where it is base. The building is a '800 original patronal building all restored with a Luxury small but... More

Great family run feeling, delicious meals, excellent service. BUT they need to invest in modernizing and refurbishing. The room key drove me crazy the heat didn't work i was so hot opened the window but then was eaten alive by mosquitoes. Internet access was free WiFi but complicated to access. They need new shower curtains and wallpaper.

This hotel has been resting on its laurels for far too long. It's a member of the Relais and Chateaux chain but really doesn't deserve to be. The price of our room (admittedly a suite) was E299 a night -- including parking and breakfast -- but we felt this was rip-off. Some of the staff are nice and helpful, but... More

It's pretty hotel living in the past...And to darn expensive for what it is . The rooms are very frou frou with artificial flowers everywhere, high ceilings and lots of tat ...in the rooms and out. The staff have probably been there for ages and are relatively pleasant and the garden is lovely. The food, despite being a Chateau-Hotel, is... More

I think beds that are 190cm are not allowed in the EU. Never mind the mattress quality. Was unable to sleep. Then I heard that another associate had been there before and had left the hotel the next morning for the same reason. Breakfast buffet: NOT!
