Il Carmine offers a tranquility and setting that is rare, even for Erice. The fact that Il Carmine used to be a sanctuary (or even monestary), shows clearly, and it just adds to the very special experience. The place in general and the rooms are well kept, it is easy to find, parking is cheap (when you as advised buy... More

This small ex-convent has been made into a very lovely B&B. Other reviewers were obviously disappointed that this is not a hotel - think largish B&B and you will not be. Our room was extremely spacious - clearly the nuns had quite large cells! The room had a barrel vaulted ceiling and a small balcony. The thick stone walls, high... More

Booked 4 nights and left after 1 night. Would have left immediately but had no options. This is NO WAY anything but a 2 star place to stay at. There was no hotel staff other than a t shirt dressed teenager to do nothing other than hand me my key. To park I had to take a 20 min walk... More

Staying in an old convent was a great experience, particularly in such an amazing place as Erice. About 3 or 4 minutes walk from the main historic centre, its location just outside is extremely helpful if you're driving - no need to try and traverse those narrow streets, and free parking just around the corner. The room itself was pretty... More

It's not often that you get to sleep in an old monks cell and stay in a property with a chapel on site! This is exactly what is available at Il Carmine as it is an old convent which has been turned into tourist accommodation (although I suspect, a lot more comfortable than what the monks had available). The setting... More

This hotel is a different one. Firstly, because it's located in a former convent, keeping the atmosphere of the place that you can appreciate in the dining room, in the austerity of the big rooms and in the presence of a small chapel opposite to the reception desk. Moreover, it is managed by a local association ("Domus Carmelitana di Erice")... More

Erice is a walled city sitting at the top of a 2000+' mountain. The trip up is full of hairpin curves on a narrow road. When you get to the top you probably don't want to drive in the town. This is where Il Carmine fits the bill. There are three gates into the old town. Il Carmine is about... More

Il Carmine is located at the top of a mountain, surrounded by the cutest little town. It's difficult to find and the streets are VERY narrow. It used to be a convent, so I guess they weren't worried about noise. You can hear your neighbors pretty clearly. We were there during a storm, and had water come in under the... More

My wife and I stayed for a week at this quiet and relaxing location. The accommodation is fairly basic, but we were made very welcome by the staff, who were very keen to be of help. We regretted not hiring a car, as Erice is a bit isolated, but the cable car into Trapani, a smart and interesting city, was... More

Very historic building in a quiet corner of Erice. It's not a 4 star hotel, but was clean and the staff were very helpful and nice. Parking very close. We would stay there again. Take the day excursion boat trip to Favignana and Levanzo from Trapani, and be sure to take your bathing suits!
