The owners could not have been more helpful. We arrived by motorbike and they took us to a good parking place for the bikes and then guided us back to the hotel. The room was clean and bright and comfortable and almost silent overnight. We left early the next morning after breakfast so our stay was brief but this hotel... More

Above all - the owners attitude was the worst part - Many things did not function properly or were not as published (we paid extra for the "terrace" when actually there was hardly place to stand there), you needed special training to flush the Toilet and we literallyfreezed to death during evening and night But the worst part was the... worst stay ever! We were received by a rude man that even shouted at us! Could only speak an incomprehensible italian (altough we had been having success with our efforts to speak the language). Place was the more expensive we stayed in the whole trip (and we stayed in 5 and 4 star hotels which actually deserved their stars). Breakfast... More

The hotel San Domenico has its charm, but its main quality is its reliability, in a region where travelers do not often feel that welcome, and where bad surprises are abundant! The hotel is clean, rooms have good beds what is needed, some of them -the largest ones- are quite nice, others are too small, dark and really dull. Breakfast... More

Hotel Santo Domenico is located in the heart of historic Erice and is a fantastic experience to help you appreciate the town. We stayed in Erice last year at a different hotel, and this one is definitely nicer. The hotel is well maintained, well decorated, and is very clean. Our bed mattress was fairly firm - typical of all beds... More

Some people say it's not worth spending more than a few hours in Erice, just wander about like everyone else, have lunch then return to a more sensible location at sea level for the night. Well, they're quite wrong! This is an enchanting little town and the San Domenico is an ideal place to stay - once you've found it.... More

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel. Its location is excellent for exploring sites and shops, and our room was comfortable with an incredible view. Rosella, her father, and Patrick were friendly and helpful. We certainly appreciated their patience with our Italian! Yes, parking can present a challenge, but not major. We would certainly recommend or choose again.

Very good location. Am puzzled by comments about access by car, I drove directly to the hotel with a Ford Galaxy and backed up ten feet from the entrance to unload and load. Staff very helpful. Short walk to the main square. Breakfast is small hotel Sicily, get over it. If we are ever back even close we will be... More

Here is the most-important thing to keep in mind when going to Erice if you haven't been there before: Arrive way before it's dark because as I found out ( in driving alone as a single woman who had been driving all around Sicily on her own) finding your hotel here in the dark is a very stupid thing to... A three night stay here before driving over to the east of the island. Lovely location and a charming hotel. OK the rooms are not huge, but we are talking historic buildings here. The owners have only basic english - so what, improve your italian! Erice is a delight and especially at night after the tour coaches have disappeared. One... More
