Hotel is physically great and in a good location in itself, although Erba is a bit of a dump and, beware, nowhere near Lake Como. However the staff are indifferent and disinterested, customer service is perfunctory to say the least; there is no attention to detail or warmth or effort put in. The key reason and problem: THIS IS A... more

I just recently returned from staying at the Hotel Castello Di Casiglio. I was with my partner and children and a friend and was looking forward to a stay in a lovely hotel. We arrived to be told that the connecting rooms we had asked for ,and been assured were free, were now not available and they were planning to... more

This hotel is over 700 years old and is full f character including the meandering priveleged cat that wanders the premises. We had 3 nights here in the most wonderful old room on the third floor and enjoyed every minute of it. Part of a group of 22 from Australia we were given a reasonably free roam of the facilities.... more

I'd agree with most of the previous comments on the Castello di Casiglio. The location is a ten or fifteen minute drive from Como, a downside. Against this, it is arguably the most beautiful and sophisticated hotel in which we've stayed. The grounds are lovely, and there is a very large and beautiful pool. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was the location... more

Chose this hotel as we wanted to be near Lake Como - it was a bit further away than we expected however this was the last of 3 hotels that we stayed in at the end of a 2 week holiday, and it was by far the best. The whole ambience of the hotel hit us the minute we arrived.... more

Have not stayed here, but was not impressed by customer service. Booked a room at c11am on monring, cancelled it less than 24hrs later (after client cancelled meeting) and they insist on charging full room rate. more

We have just returned from our 2 weeks in Italy and our 3 night stay here was excellent. The venue, staff, facilities and services were excellent and could not fault the hotel in any way. We had dinner in the hotel on 2 nights and the food was great, lunch at the Grill was also very good and a spectacular... more

We chose this hotel based on the fact it was an old castle and looked very good. It did not disappoint in terms of character and quality, however the hotel staff were not very helpful and the hotel felt more like a business hotel rather than a place to base yourself for a holiday. more
