I have just returned from Chiavari and I'm eager to review the hotel because it is deserving of a lot of praise. The family owners and staff have been through a trying time following flooding in November but after a chic refurb, the hotel is now quite lovely. Location is good and handy for the rail station for easy access... More

You are made to feel very welcome and all the staff are friendly and polite and with a good sense of humour, especially when the language barrier runs riot. Any small problem, they will solve it for you. The food, real Italian, was in our opinion excellent. A wide and varied menu. Breakfast was typically continental with a very wide... More

I loved this hotel. It's not great, it's not grand, it's not led by a brand, but what do you want from a hotel? Bedrooms are basic but ok. They're quiet and comfortable. If you go on holiday to spend all day in the hotel, don't go to the Stella del Mare, but if you want a great base from... More

We too stayed at this hotel at the beginning of September and found it to be very tired and in need of some TLC. From talking with our fellow travellers it seemed that the allocation of rooms was a lottery with some of our party refusing to accept the room first offered. Our room on the second floor was very... My wife and I stayed here for six nights with Treyn on an Italian Riviera holiday visiting mostly coastal towns and villages from Genoa down as far as Riomaggiore. The hotel in Chiavari is well placed among some delightful old villas with the railway station, the old quarter, local markets and the beach only minutes away. The hotel itself is... More

I was staying here for 6 nights with Treyn Holidays on an Italian Riviera trip taking in the Cinque Terre (5 stunning villages just along the coat from Chiavari), Portofino (don't get your purse out of your bag, just look in those shops) and Genoa (beautiful cathedral, oriental quarter, narrow alleys, lots of atmosphere, lively port area). The hotel was... More

Just got back from a stay at hotel with Treyn holidays. Room very basic and a bit cramped. Shower extremely small but bathroom clean and towels changed daily. The breakfast was basic and would have been better if there had been fresh fruit salad instead of canned also if there had been some nice bread not just the kind that... More

Got back last night from a Treyn holiday. This hotel is Italian 3-star which is more like UK 2-star. My single room was basic but had all I needed. Enough drawer/wardrobe space. A safe in the wardrobe. Good cleaner kept it spotless. It would have been nice to have an English-speaking tv channel other than BBC World News. Dinner in... More

we spent a night here in late july 2013 and loved it. the staff were without exception friendly, helpful and accommodating. the beds were comfortable, the rooms clean and spacious. centrally located, midway between the town centre and the sea. parking readily available on the street even in high season. restaurants aplenty and much to see. a joy.
