Its major appeal is that it is on the lake. The neighboring Villa d'Este is a five star hotel and the difference between the two is not ONE but a whole galaxy of stars. Here the staff is unfriendly and borderline rude. Most don't speak English even those at the reception. And they give incomplete or incorrect information and even... more

Located 1 block from the Villa d'Este (one of the top hotels in the world) is this moderately priced hotel sharing the same view as the aforementioned hotel and just a few steps from the ferry. Although the decor is simple and the rooms may be small, the hotel offers great value for exploration of Lake Como. There are nearby... more

The Regina Olga does not compare well with other hotels in the Lakes and certainly does not deserve four stars. Its main asset is its location by the lake and handy for the ferry landing stage; but the rooms feel cramped with old, ugly, oversized furniture. There was nowhere to put our suitcases, for example (mine spent the two nights... more

We just returned from a 3 week vacation in Italy which included 6 nights at the Regina Olga. The staff was exceptional - courteous, friendly and helpful. Our room was both spacious and well decorated. The buffet breakfast was among the best we have enjoyed anywhere. Obviously, improvements have been made since some of the other reviews as there is... more

Research for a girlfriends getaway to Lake Como led us to the Regina Olga. Not able to afford the Villa D'Este, we selected the hotel because it had a pool in our price range. Once we arrived, we were very happy with our selection of hotel. If you're there for the lake and scenery, then the Regina Olga is where... more

After flying into Milan from LA with two kids (6 & 3) the Regina Olga was a great way to start the trip. Only a 45-minute drive from Malpensa, this hotel is perfectly situated overlooking a small piazza and the lake. High ceiling adjoining rooms were authentically European and the kids loved watching the ferry boats zip back & forth... more

The Regina Olga was a lovely place to stay (3 nights in September). The grounds and hotel are nice, well furnished, and modern, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful (they even let us use their hotel computer to check e-mail, given lack of business facilities in the hotel). Our room was very large, well decorated, and very modern;... more

We stayed at the hotel for the GP at Monza. We found our room to be comfortable and roomy, with a comfortable bed. I considered the room to be a little dirty in places, but my partner who was with me says I am too fussy, so it is obviously a matter of opinion. the staff were friendly and helpful.... more

We stayed at the Regina Olga with my husband who was at a conference nearby. We arrived late to find that our allocated room was filthy with a sink plug that was broken. There were no alternative rooms and the receptionist sent a porter to look at the plug. His solution? To shrug and dismantle it completely. The room was... more

We have just returned from a tour of the Italian Lakes staying at 4* hotels - the Palace in Garda, La Palma in Maggiore and Regina Olga in Como. The other two were excellent but the Regina Olga lacked greatly in standards falling short of its 4* status. We were allocated a very tiny room on the 4th floor -... more
