I am really put off by prople who complain about costs. This is not a bargain hotel. My wife and I make qan attempt to spend a month here every year in a junior suite. To complain about costs of services a Villa d'Este is like complaining about the gas mileage of a Ferrari. If you can find a better... more

James Bond would be well at home in the Villa d'Este with its luxurious grounds and to die for senery. In fact I bet Daniel Craig stayed here when filming Casino Royal. My Wife and I booked lunch at the Hotel whilst on holiday further up the lake and it was a well worth journey to lunch at one of... more

The first observation I would like to make is that our arrival and stay at the hotel was genuinely warm and welcoming, and not at all snobby or condescending as one or 2 previous contributors had mentioned. As this was my first visit, these preconceived ideas of snobbishness I had prior to my arrival were immediately dispelled upon our arrival,... more

Having stayed at this hotel a couple of times before it never ceases to impress me, located on the edge of the lake with its floating pool, fabulous restaurants serving mouth watering delicacies and beautiful gardens... However it is not the aforementioned that makes this hotel so special, it is the high level of service and at villa d este... more

We did not stay here, although we wish we had, we went here for lunch for my wife's birthday. It was a beautiful day, we sat out on the terrace. The view is spectacular, the service and food the best there is. We met an English couple at the next table and hit it off straight away. After lunch another... more

It was my first time to Como Lake with my friends. We were trying to book a hotel in the town it self but all good hotels were full so we chose this on line without prior knowledge of what is it like (the price seemed a bit expensive but we were determined to visit the village). When we got... more

When we arrived they immediately offered to return our rental car as we were taking a train from there to Paris. They upgraded us from our regular room to a suite because we were on our honeymoon at no charge, sent someone to iron our clothes while we lunched and explored the gardens, and left champagne and cherries in our... more

The hotel is among the nicest in Europe if not the world, looking at the gardens and the views possible. The price of food is crazy. 28 € for a sandwich that would cost 2,5 € at Marks & Spencers for ex. combined with bad presentation and less than averege quality of the ingredience. If you eat cake the little... more

We had the most amazing stay for a week last August at the hotel. Although we did not have the most expensive room it was lovely nonetheless with views of the garden and lake. However, staying at Villa d'Este is not about lounging in your room - it is about experiencing the grandeur and absorbing the history of this amazing... more

I stayed at Villa d'Este in the summer of 2007 with my wife, sister and brother-in-law..It was my second stay at the hotel and I think it is an amazing place....The hotel is in a restored Villa on the edge of Lake Como...The grounds are spectacular and the hotel has the famous "floating pool" (basically a pool that is on... more
