This is a very good farmhouse conversion just a short 5 to 10 minute stroll(for a 72 year old) from shops, cafes and restaurants. The owner Roberta is very welcoming and helpful who also speaks good English. There is a nice swimming pool overlooking the valley at the rear of the property.Breakfast is good and is served in the garden(weather permitting).Would definitely return.

Located on the outskirts of the small town of Castellina, Il Columbaio is a great place to stay if touring the region by car. Very easy to find, with a large parking lot, the hotel has a large grounds area including an outdoor pool, and is a short 5 minute walk to the town centre. The rooms are all large,... More

Roberta owns this inn and she is very sweet and helpful. The room was spacious, although the bed was very uncomfortable and there were no screens on the windows (some bug issues). Breakfast in the morning was complete with homemade, hot, fresh criossants. Castellina in Chainti was a very cute town with a couple really good restaurants. Colombio was a... More

This conveniently located, old world farmhouse villa a good mix of budget friendly lodging and antique charm. The owner, Roberta, was a wonderful lady who out of her way to accommodate our every need during our short 2 night stay. It was odd that the place was never cleaned as much as I would have liked and the amount of... More

Set in a hand built stone villa, this hotel is past it's prime but that's part of its charm. The furnishings are from sometime ago so nothing closes easily or tightly. The hand-written signs in the public hallway remind guests to turn off lights, check out by 11:00 and to not expect a change of linens for 3 days. Roberta,... More

Thus is Tuscany back in time. A building and design full of character which separates you from the modern world ( there is free wifi to keep you in touch though!). The owner Roberta, and her mum, look after you from the moment you step inside their world. Nothing is too much trouble. The place is spotlessly clean, rooms are... More

Beware, this hotel seems to get overbooked. When we arrived we got the impression there weren't any rooms available although we had booked online & this hotel was available on 6 sites. We were asked to stay at the "sister property" which, though very quiet with a stunning view, was about 10 minutes away down a long/winding dirt/gravel road. We... More

This was a beautiful place to stay. Roberta the owner was just lovely (as was her cat) and speaks great English The rooms are spacious with beautiful furniture and wood beamed ceilings. Staying here really makes you feel that you are staying in Tuscany. It has a beautiful pool area and outdoor area and is walking distance to restaurants, etc.

The inside and rooms of this Albergo were very clean and rustic , the owner, Roberta, was very helpful and friendly, the position was very good for walking into the town. We met some very interesting fellow travellers. There was a big swimming pool with lots of sun loungers which could have been fabulous with a good clean and the... More

We had a lovely night's stay here (Albergo di Colombaio) at the beginning of our Chianti cycle tour. Although we stayed in other pricier hotels, nowhere was the breakfast coffee as good or the breakfast croissant as tasty. And the town, with it's multitude of tempting restaurants, is just a step across the road. Up the hill behind the hotel/... More
