Certainly worth the trip to the top of the hill to find the wonderful old town which is Castelllabate. Albergo II Castello is a little gem, especially if you have a room with a balcony to enjoy the amazing panoramic views. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful Franca who speaks excellent English.Breakfast is substantial and always fresh.Excellent value for... More

Castellabte is a stunning relatively undiscovered medeaval hilltop village on the Cilento coast of Campagnia just an hour or so's drive from Salerno and a million miles from that frantic overrated hot spot.Franca your sophisticated hostess sevs up the best plentiful breakfast and if your very lucky will cook an evening meal for you that's to die for. We visited Castellabate over Easter and stayed at Albergo il Castello in a room with an incredible view over the valley. Even though it was a bit rainy when we arrived it was still amazing. We visited in what was probably just before the start of the peak season for the area so the hotel was quiet - there was... More

We spotted this online about 3 days before leaving for Italy. What a stroke of luck we had! It's a beautiful building, full of character, friendly, helpful and relaxed owner and staff, simple but spotless rooms, excellent home made family meals and stunning location (of course). We are definitely going back! The Ivie family

We arrived on the doorsteps of Albergo II Castello in early November and felt welcome immediately! The hotel is a charming family run business with the owner, Franca on the premises, looking after ever detail to ensure your time spent at the hotel and in Castalebate is perfect!! And perfect it was!! The hotel itself is a very old building... More

We literally stumbled upon Albergo Il Castello in Castellabata, quite late in the evening, after a long drive down the coast from Sperlonga. Despite the lateness, and our lack of Italian, Franca, the lovely owner, immediately came to our rescue! The albergo is quite literally a “castle” – very old, beautifully furnished and just stunning. We were shown the most... More

I am so happy I happened upon this gem, thanks to the recommendation in town, as I hadn't made reservations before hand. Not only did Franca and her staff make me feel welcome, they also made sure my dog was comfortable. My room had french doors that opened onto an enormous balcony with a great view. There was something about... More

A lovely old fashioned hotel with the feel of a friendly family inn perched high in the upper reaches of a picture book walled town on the first hill overlooking the wide turquoise sea. The breakfasts are the best I have had in Italy and for an amazingly low price the owner Franca will present a gorgeous dinner: no menu,... More

We chose this location for our summer holiday based on recommendations from a colleague. He had been at the hotel for several summers and his praise was never-ending. We cannot do anything other than join him. This was the perfect place for us! The hotel is situated in the village of Castellabate, nearly 300 meters above sea level, with the... More
