The Elephant is an old classical hotel, dating back to the XVIII Century, located a few meters outside Brixen old city walls (nice relaxing walk). In front of the old building, inside a beautiful flowered garden, there is an annex (a former XIX-Century private villa) with other rooms, and there is a pool with solarium area. There is also a... We stayed at Hotel Elephant for one night in February 2015, and wished we stayed longer. It was such a beautiful hotel. Just the right amount of old world charm and new world comfort. Friendly service. The restaurant was closed (perhaps due to the winter season) but we were pointed to an excellent restaurant in Bressanone (5 minute walk) called... More

Five stars isn't enough to describe how fantastic the food and how friendly and welcoming Hotel Elephant is. Quality food with excellent flavor combinations, superbly fresh ingredients, and a great atmosphere. Additionally, they are great at recommending wines. Really always a pleasure!

I did not know about this XVI century Hotel. I ended up by chance (as I was on a business trip) and discivered that, besides the ancient walls and rooms, the ancient stairs and furniture, you can enjoy a 17000 square meters garden, with a swimming pool. The Hotel is a few steps from downtown Bressanone and it is definitevely... More

This hotel is a winner with its old-fashioned charm. The sitting room, hallways and dining rooms incorporate antiques, museum quality paintings and magnificent panelling.. Good food is sourced from the adjacent walled garden where the swimming pool holds court. Our room 29 was spacious, with comfortable decor and balcony. Location is perfect for tripping to Innsbruck and general Dolomites area

You will love this hotel if you like old world charm. If you like modern streamlined minimalist places, don't stay here. The hotel is a historic building filled with antiques. It has a gorgeous old world restaurant with a carved wooden ceiling. We were looking forward to have dinner in this restaurant however we were seated on our own in... More

It's like staying in a museum except rooms are large, clean and very modern. Conveniently located on a pedestrian area with lots of outdoor cafes, shopping and wine bars/stores. Staff especially Michael and his wife became friends attentive to all of our needs and tastes. Exceptional meals highlighting local foods and wines - best creme brûlée ever. Beautiful private grounds.... More

Stayed here 5 days for business. Enjoyed the excellent service, really professioanal. Hotel is getting old, but still you can notice the quality standards you would expect. Kind personnel, from reception to porter. Excellent cuisine, and double points for caring about gluten free food with great personal attention. They enjoy their job. You can feel it.

We absolutely recommend this magnificent place. The town of Bressanone offers a few very interesting museums. It also might be used to visit the nearby valleys. The hotel itself is a real bargain. Very friendly staff, a restaurant to dream off, the real meaning of hospitality!!! We loved this place..!

Brixen/Bressanone completed my tour of Sudtirol. It's a lovely historic town (like a miniature Salzburg-with which it has many parallels and historic connections). Brixen was the favourite holiday retreat of then- Cardinal Ratzinger, and this hotel was where he habitually stayed. It is extremely comfortable, situated in a wonderful old building (characterful old fixtures and fittings, and interesting paintings), with... More
