We had not expected to be staying in Alba and so had not researched hotels but as we understand old fashioned Italian hotels we guessed Hotel Savona would be a case of dreadful room decor (actually tomb like) and clean. In July there was Jazz music in the street until midnight so noisy if you don't like Jazz! Later we... More

Room across from elevator. Air conditioning available only after 8PM on first night. Tiny elevators (2) were slow and frequently unresponsive. Clean. Great breakfast buffet. Front desk attempted to be accommodating but seemed to need lessons in customer relations and communications. Maybe I need to work on my Italian. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable... More

This is a hotel that will not be appreciated by everybody, so it's important to know what to expect. First of all it is very classical, with old-fashioned furniture, wall-to-wall carpets and bathrooms that must have been fitted in the 1980s. So if you want sleek and modern surroundings then this is a no-go. Personally, the fact that the bathroom... More

Perfect location for crashing after a night out. Close to Plaza di Savona were a seemingly simple restaurant surprised us with a brilliant Barolo 1997. Several restaurants with acceptable food in the proximity. Supermarked across the street is also a plus. Room with wall to wall carpet and paper-thin walls weren't that good. Breakfast a big dissapointment. Little to choos... More

This hotel is rated as a 4-Star hotel yet, upon arrival, I wondered why. Three stars (-) maybe, but four, never. First of all, there was a less than hospitable receptionist who said there was no parking, even though the site I visited said there was. One would think that in such cases there would be at least one space... More

Hotel is in very good location especially if you are visiting for truffle festival as you are just minutes from centre of celebrations. Rooms are pretty small, old style, have strong smell. Hotel itself needs some renovations. It's difficult to find parking exactly near hotel. There is parking area may be 500 meters from hotel. There are a lot of... More

I had mixed feelings about Hotel Savona: Positives: Fair rates, very central location for wine tasting or visiting the main square, super friendly welcoming staff Cons: Our room has a lot of noise from the street which woke us up (Room 320), beds very uncomfortable, safe didn't work, we had do not disturb sign on but they still made up... The hotel is in a fantastic location close to the centre of Alba. It is more a 2 or 3 star than a 4 star hotel. It needs to be upgraded and if it was would be a real gem. I would recommend for the location.

Best thing first - the location is very good. The hotel is close to the main square and the main street in Alba. Rest is back to the 80's. Rooms are very outdated, and beds are not very comfortable. Only handhold shower in a bath tub with towels that didn't dry you up. Breakfast was very limited, but the coffee... More

The hotel is in many ways stuck in time, and it does not deserve 4 star rating, I rather liked it. The position is unbeatable, just a short walk to the city center and shopping street, Via Maestra. For me, that made it so easy to walk to and from the Alba Truffle Fair. The staff were very pleasant. Breakfast... More
