The only hotel actually situated within the archaeological grounds apparently, and so trading on its views of the Tempio della Concordia. Which is fine, but that is all they have here - the rate was ridiculously high. We got a room with, admittedly, a breathtaking view of the temple, particularly first thing in the morning (albeit covered with scaffolding at... more

We stayed at the Villa Athena for three nights in July 2008. Having read previous reviews on Trip Advisor, we were aware that the main attraction of the hotel was the view of the temples. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the only redeeming features of the hotel. The staff were rude and unhelpful, at best they were... more

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location, and a perfect place for a calming few days. The hotel – an old villa – is situated, literally, in the middle of the old Greek archaeological site. You open your bedroom door, steep onto a beautiful veranda, and there – right in front of you – is the two and a half... more

My husband and I loved our two night stay at the Hotel Villa Athena in Agrigento in mid may of 2008. In contrast to many of the previous reviews, we found the hotel to be attractive and the staff friendly and helpful. The lobby and public rooms are decorated in a style of faded elegance in keeping with the hotel’s... more

I refused to stay in the first room I was given as it was little more than a dirty, dusty, dark cell on the ground floor. The staff seemed quite used to having to move people to different rooms and gave me a room on the top floor (without a terrace). This room was dusty and there were cracks in... more

We stayed here because of it's location - which is superb. The gardens are extremely pleasant, with a view of a magnificent Greek temple. There is a very nice pool which we enjoyed. Our room was minimal, but clean and adequate for our purposes. Our main problem was the food, which appears to be supplied from a separate restaurant on... more

Location, location, location. The view from the terrace of the Temple of Concord while having a glass of wine in the twilight is breathtaking. The staff is very ehlpful and the wifie (free) worked well. The hotel would be much nicer if the bedrooms were updated but for one night the hotel is an acceptable place to stay. more

This hotel is really all about the view. You simply must get a room that opens on the terrace that overlooks the Greek temple. The rooms are fine, if a bit worn. Everything about the room was fine but in another setting it might be at best average. The staff was extremely helpful, warm, and welcoming. We really loved it... more

The hotel villa athena is lucky that they are situated in perhaps the best point from which to view the ruins of agrigento, otherwise this place would surely be out of business. We looked at their bar, and the jar of cherries for cocktails had mold growing in it. For the prices they charge the service is terrible. The rooms... more

Froders guide rates this hotel as over rated, but the best location in town. I would say that is fair. Our quoted rate for 3 people with breakfast was 180 Euros with a view. When we got there the hotel was not full so the front desk clerk offered us a small room with a view or a larger room... more
