We believe that the positive reviews must be from employees. Don't believe them. Let me start by saying that the employees however are very nice. Have no complaints there. That's where the positive experience ends. For the $200 plus dollars a night go stay somewhere where the floors are clean, the bathroom fan doesn't sound like it's taking off, grounds... More

We stayed here with my husband's folks, and his brother's family. His folks took the main villa and each of the brothers got one of the side rooms. I would not book a side room if you are by yourself but it is great for families to be together. The main villa is like a condo with a kitchen, living,... More

Let me start by mentioning just how fantastic this vacation was for my fiancée and me. My now wife and I booked a stay here to include catering service for our March 29th Wedding. Both Connie and Gloria have completely blown us away with the amount of care and service they gave us. The amount of attention and consideration these... More

We never stay at the same place twice for vacation because there are so many great possibilities out there. Rancho Viejo became the exception. We had so completely enjoyed our stay in one of their roomy, comfortable villas for the month of February, 2013 (we were located with our patio viewing the 18th fairway and pond - perfect for golf... We had stayed here a couple of years age and were impressed by the number and quality of improvements made to the entire complex since then. The accommodations, as expected, were clean and comfortable and very well appointed. The addition of a washer and dryer was a pleasant surprise and very useful for an extended stay. The new furnishings have... More

We were in Brownsville for several days and held business meetings in the Rancho Viejo conference center. Having worked and traveled to Brownsville for more than 30 years, I was really pleasantly surprised to live and work here for three days. Rancho Viejo is an older golf resort that is very well maintained and responsive to changing times. The people... More

I had heard nothing but good things about the Rancho Viejo Resort. I grew up in Brownsville, close to Olmito, and had a family wedding to attend this weekend. I currently live in Austin, and looking at their website, the photos of the rooms and pool were awesome. I just knew my 2 children ages 3 & 5 would love... More

By far the worst hotel experience! The website led us to believe we were getting a deluxe 1 bedroom with double beds, a table and chairs, a mini fridge and microwave. When we got our room, the room looked like it had been completely stripped! The only thing the room had was 2 beds that were so hard I could... More

I have been to South Padre Island couple of times, but this time I was looking for something quite and peaceful as well as close to South Padre (within 1 hour). Found this resort and I'm glad that we stayed there. If you don't like too much crowd, this is the place you should consider. Green and quite. This resort... More

Don't pay island prices and have a quaint and quiet place to relax at. The kitchen was fully equipped and the rooms had wonderful furnishings. Just what me and the hubby needed!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rancho Viejo is a golf community and resort that stretches across 1,400 verdant acres in the tropical Lower Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. At 26.04 degrees latitude, the lower Rio Grande valley is at the southernmost point of the mainland United States; practically due west of Miami.Originally carved through citrus groves and built along resacas, the ancient waterways of the Rio Grand Delta, Rancho Viejo offers a golfing paradise, on two par 70 eighteen-hole championship golf courses. Also located on property are two excellent dining facilities and a conference center with plenty of meeting and special occation event rooms. Our award winning swimming pool, with its very large waterfall and beach landing, will remind you of the South Seas.Cruising the resaca aboard the Delta Dawn (coming soon), playing tennis in the evening on lighted tennis courts or an opportunity to practice your golf game on our driving range, chipping and putting greens is also available. Rancho Viejo, dates back to the Espiritu Land Grant by the King of Spain 1771. Ever present is the influence of the Spanish and Mexican heritage. You see it in the red tile roofs, fountains and tropical gardens that grace the public areas of the resort. Hotel accommodations are in 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas located along the El Diablo golf course or the Resaca del Rancho Viejo. All villas are furnished with new modern-style furnishings and have beautiful views. They are quiet and peaceful. Parking is plentiful and available in front of each villa as well as around the other resort facilities. ... more   less
