We spent 2 nights in the Lodge in the Fish Eagle Room in Feb 2015 on our way to the Addo Main Camp. The Lodge is located directly on the Sundays River bank opposite of a nature reserve with one of the biggest dune fields in the southern hemisphere. We stayed in the Fish Eagle Room. The room is really... More

The hospitality of Etta and Derek was second to none. The lodge was immaculate and the views from the balcony and room were stunning. Anybody wanting to tour Addo Elephant Park would be advised to use Derek and Etta, who are official guides and whose knowledge of the park and wildlife is extensive. Derek's enthusiasm, like his laugh, was infectious!... More

My husband and I have just come back from a fabulous holiday in South Africa, our first (hopefully of many). We stayed in 5 different B&B's all good, but Dungbeetle River Lodge stood out as one of the most lovely for many reasons. The position is perfect, eating our breakfast on the veranda overlooking the Sundays river. Our room was... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of our "safari" section of our visit to South Africa. We intended to visit Addo Elephant National Park and Schotia private game reserve. We were met by Etta and Derek who offered a drink of our choice. We were greeted on the decking at the back of the property... More

We stayed for 1 night at Dungbeetle on our way to Kuzuko Lodge. Despite the disappointing cloudy and damp weather we were very warmly greeted by Derek with a welcome drink after a long drive and the setting is fab on the Sundays River with a lovely deck to spot birds We had a mammoth dinner at Grunters and then... The Dungbeetle River Lodge is lovely situated at the sundayriver in colchester. It's a very nice place with warmhearted owners, who are very helpful and friendly! We enjoyed our 3 nights in the african styled rooms, the breakfast was excellent with a joice of delicious homemade bread, different homemade marmelades, mmmhhhhh, cheeses, sausages and big and mouthwatering omelets, great!!! Lovely accommodation on the Sundays river, Derek and Etta extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable of the area, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had the Africa suite over looking the river, comfortable queen sized bed and lovely double shower.

First of all we would like to thank Etta and Derek for a wonderful stay. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer as we ran out of time. Etta kindly booked us a game drive in Addo at short notice. We didn't know what to expect as we had spend 3 wonderful days in the eastern cape at... More

We stayed one night by Derek and Etta, lovely people, in the Lion room. The room is spacious with fan and aircon. It's clean and quiet with a good bed. The breakfast are wonderful served on the porch with view to the river. Do go to Grunders Pub for a steak, you won't regret it, or for a beer in... More
