Stayed one night at Dungbeetle on our honeymoon. We received a warm friendly welcome from Etta and shown to our room. We arrived a bit late and Etta suggested we eat supper at Grunters Pub & Grill a just few metres down the road. Excellent suggestion, as the food there is amazing. We stayed in the Fish Eagle suite which... More

Positives: Excellent location just outside the Matyholweni gate to Addo National Park. Derek and Colette were great hosts. A beautiful view of the river if you have a river-facing room (which I highly recommend). Great local pub/restaurant nearby. Negatives: A bit noisy due to proximity to the national road. The interior is a bit dated and the African theme might... More

If I had to choose somewhere to stay, there would be no other choice! Derrick,Etta and Collette, your warm, heartfelt welcome and attention painted your picture perfect. The setting on the Sunday's River and amenities offers peace and tranquility. The proximity to Addo Elephant Reserve so convenient. We'll be back! Thank you😇

We were warmly welcomed and showed around while sipping our welcome drink. The deck and 2 rooms have a fabulous view of the Sunday's river. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and despite it being a B&B (and the local pub closed!) we were offered a deliciously prepared home cooked roast chicken dinner.... More

Very nice, reasonably priced lodge for the service and atmosphere, beautiful site on the Sundays River, very nice host. We stayed in the Big 5 room and it was everything we expected. The lodge is 5 minutes from the south entrance to Addo Elephant Park, so very convenient location. Wonderful!

We spent 2 nights in the Lodge in the Fish Eagle Room in Feb 2015 on our way to the Addo Main Camp. The Lodge is located directly on the Sundays River bank opposite of a nature reserve with one of the biggest dune fields in the southern hemisphere. We stayed in the Fish Eagle Room. The room is really... More

The hospitality of Etta and Derek was second to none. The lodge was immaculate and the views from the balcony and room were stunning. Anybody wanting to tour Addo Elephant Park would be advised to use Derek and Etta, who are official guides and whose knowledge of the park and wildlife is extensive. Derek's enthusiasm, like his laugh, was infectious!... More

My husband and I have just come back from a fabulous holiday in South Africa, our first (hopefully of many). We stayed in 5 different B&B's all good, but Dungbeetle River Lodge stood out as one of the most lovely for many reasons. The position is perfect, eating our breakfast on the veranda overlooking the Sundays river. Our room was... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of our "safari" section of our visit to South Africa. We intended to visit Addo Elephant National Park and Schotia private game reserve. We were met by Etta and Derek who offered a drink of our choice. We were greeted on the decking at the back of the property... More

We stayed for 1 night at Dungbeetle on our way to Kuzuko Lodge. Despite the disappointing cloudy and damp weather we were very warmly greeted by Derek with a welcome drink after a long drive and the setting is fab on the Sundays River with a lovely deck to spot birds We had a mammoth dinner at Grunters and then...
