We booked this hotel after reading favourable reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel has plenty of character and was well decorated for the Christmas festivities. There were plenty of guest, business, conference, celebrations etc. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was excellent a great way to start the day before going off sight... More

Impressive entrance, beautifully kept grounds and a festive welcome gave a lovely first impression. Unfortunately the last resident of our room had smoked-the smell was awful but with no other rooms available the best the hotel could do was give us a slight discount. Not a good start. There were two other negatives: a very small and uncomfortable king size... More

Lovely old hotel, feels that you are driving up to somewhere really special. All of the staff were really polite and helpful. The lounge, dining room, reception area and room were all well maintained and had all been sympathetically decorated to fit the "manor house" style of the building. The window could be opened (including a small ventilation window) so... More

Well located a few minutes drive from Chester, an ideal base to explore the Wirral. Set in it's own grounds this imposing mock tudor building feels like it is in the middle of the countryside. An imposing entrance with traditional panelled decor, gave a comfortable feel on arrival. The staff could not be more friendly and obliging. Our room (... More

The good points : Beautiful house and grounds. Excellent staff who couldn't do enough to help. Superbly appointed room. Food excellent. HOWEVER.... Not so good points : UNBEARABLY HOT. The heating was on full blast throughout the building and it sucked every molecule of moisture from our bodies. Even with the radiator turned off and all the windows wide open... More

From the moment we arrived and were offered complimentary mulled wine and mince pies to the outstanding quality breakfast we were served, this is a first class outstanding hotel. An amazing experience, attention to detail in the rooms, food quality and unbelievable value for money. Already planning a next visit.

We stayed here for a Christmas Party with a group of close friends. The location is great, it is an attractive hotel and the grounds and gardens are wonderful. Having recently received the Cheshire Small Hotel of the Year Award 2014 we were were looking forward to our visit. Check in was excellent, the receptionist explained the hotel layout clearly... What a wonderful two night stay this hotel has everything going for it lovely clean room, good food and above all staff who gave an exceptional service. The only drawback is no lift although your luggage is taken to your room for you it would be advisable to ask for a room near to ground level if you have difficulties... More

This is a rare insight into good old fashioned service. From the genuine warm welcome at reception to the quiet efficiency of the team in the restaurant...a delightful rest from modern rush rush rush. This stay was sadly just one night and was booked as a change from other options in Central Liverpool or Manchester. I'll be going back to... More

From the initial greeting at reception to our final check out the service was faultless. The attention to detail was meticulous, a special mention must go to Chris. He was exceptional and clearly did not see service as a second rate job. Our room was lovely albeit the bed could have been nicer for an Executive Room. This is a... More
