Stayed here for a couple of nights and could not fault the hotel in any way. Room and bathroom were spotless and we had lovely view over the garden. Excellence choice available for breakfast. Ate in the restaurant one evening and food was very good. Excellent service and friendly, helpful staff. Set out in the country, it was always peaceful... More

I stayed here on Friday night with my husband. Had a lovely time, found the hotel to be excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. We had booked a package which had a couple of items missing on arrival, staff quickly put this right and made sure we were looked after very well at dinner. Really enjoyed the food and look forward... More

Booked afternoon tea for my daughter and myself, only to find there was a large conference for Royal Mail taking place when I arrived in the car park a young man in Macdonald livery banged on my car roof and was very rude to me - I am still waiting for an apology from the general manager 2weeks later, I... Booked a stay and dine package at the hotel. 1st room extremely dusty and not up to what You would expect. 2nd room fine. Excellent food, superb service from staff at dinner and free drink as it was my birthday! Waiter at breakfast rather slow taking our cooked breakfast order and we sat for quite some time, seemed to be... More

This is our 3rd stay at the craxton wood hotel and was great as always. Would like to say how impressed I was with the latest refurbishment to the spa side. Looks very impressive only negatives is still no jacuzzi and sadly no clock to be able to keep an eye on time's, which to us was important as children... More

We stayed for one night at this lovely Macdonald's hotel whilst taking a short break to Chester. Staff were extremely polite & helpful, the spa was a lovely treat, our room was perfect and both our evening meal & breakfast was delicious! Looking forward to our next stay at the Macdonald's a Hotels already!

From arrival this tranquil looking place made us feel welcome. From checking in to departure we found the staff very helpful. The rooms are superb, large, with all comforts, chairs, settee, tea making facilities. The TV set up included most channels and even a speaker in the bathroom, although that caught us out at first. The breakfasts were well prepared... More

Just had the one night there and that was enough. Felt as though it was there for business people passing through. Our room was also 'standard' with no "ooh" at all when we went inside. There was a fair walk to the bar/restaurant but we took a short cut through a fire door. Into the restaurant and we were sat... More

We stayed for one night on a tour of North Wales and Ireland. The hotel seemed to have that touch of luxury to indulge ourselves at the start of our holiday. The hotel was almost empty but we were given a room that was miles from all facilities. The spa and pool were closed but we had not been advised... More

This is a tired and frankly charmless hotel that is in dire need of the refit that it is undergoing. My room had a sofa in it that was literally broken, the carpet need a good clean and it just all felt pretty grotty. The bed however was big and comfy. The food was fine, and served with friendly efficiency.... More
