We were initially given a room on the front of the hotel, but the staff happily moved us to a room on the back when we asked. The room was perfectly pleasant, but not particularly special. In contrast, the evening meal which we ate in the bar, was really very nice indeed. And breakfast the following morning was also very... More

Visited this hotel with my husband after a wedding at Rockliffe Hall. Ideally situated with a 10 minute walk from Rockliffe Hall. Had a very modern bar area and reception. Breakfast was tasty and large. Room was disappointing with tired furniture and bathroom. Overpriced for quality of stay.

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. My room was on the roadside overlooking the bridge over the river, and I expected it to be noisy, but I did not find it so. Its a comfortable place complete with tearoom, lots of parking and well trained staff. Well worth a visit.

I had heard there was new owners of this hotel and a new head chef spear heading the team. So I decided to have lunch here with some friends to see if the rumours are true. I am glad to report the rumours are real. This hotel has had a battering of late with the previous owners and looking at... More

I stayed here last night and I have to say I've stayed in hotels all over the world and have never not slept because of the sheer noise in a hotel room. The road noise is horrendous, the toilets in the block where room 16 is have some kind of own self pressure system and if someone in another room... More

Stayed for two nights Jul 2015, as friends of ours were getting married in rockliffehall. Check in was smooth, rooms need updating - although clean. Adequate ventilation for rooms as windows wouldn't open and room was really hot and water pressure was poor. The breakfast was very good. Please note that this hotel locks the main doors at 12pm and... More

There are many good things about this place which far outweigh the negative points. The location is great, bar and restaurant is modern and fresh, plenty parking and friendly staff. We stayed for one night and had a nice big room although slightly dated but ha didn't really bother us. The breakfast was first class and the lady couldn't have... More

Umming and ahhing about this hotel. I stayed for one night on business recently. When I walked in, there was an overpowering smell of paint, as the hotel is being given a makeover. There was no one at reception, and one of the guests ended up shouting for one of the staff to come over and check me in. Check... More

Good food, comfortable bed, spacious and clean room, helpful staff and location in the centre of the village. It is an old coaching inn. Had everything I would expect at a very reasonable price indeed. Although it was modernised it had not lost some of its vintage flavour.
