a little dated. unique setting, unusual rooms. Beds were squeeky. tv too small. Showers difficult to regulate. Deer and howler monkeys outside the door. woodsy location but highway near.spacious grounds. it was built as a retreat for a former Costa Rican president a century ago. Still has the feel of that time. Charming and not expensive.

This place was a hidden gem in Canas! We could not have been more pleased. We were there for 5 days. Our room (S3) was spacious, clean and cozy. I was so impressed with the bathroom with the open shower. We sat outside on our porch every evening drinking wine, enjoying the breeze and listening to all of the amazing... More

I have an amazing story about this place. H6 was great blah blah blah. Here we go. My wife was sick with explosive diarrhea for two days. I went to the bar to get some ginger ale for her stomach and to check the score of the football playoff games. When I told the bartender about my predicament, that I... More

We stopped at Hacienda for one night whilst doing an Exodus cycle trip. The rooms/cabanas are really nice and the grounds are huge, with deer, howler monkeys and other assorted animals sharing the same grounds as you. The food is OK, nothing great and maybe it was because we were a 16-strong group it took ages to be served and... More

Pleasant setting on a former hacienda. As part of our package we were given a tour of the working hacienda, which is a couple kilometers away. They grow organic rice, tilapia, among other things. The rice and tilapia are served in the restaurant, which is very good though somewhat pricey. Breakfast was included - three options: a fruit platter, typical... More

I lived in a research cabin at La Pacific in 1992-93 while studying monkeys. At that time, it was considered the nicest hotel in the area (a non-touristy section of the country), and I'm sure it still is. I just returned after a 23 year absence, and the hotel is better than ever. The rooms have been enlarged and updated, and... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at La Pacifica because it sort of feels like summer camp (in a great way). We stayed in H12, which was adorable and quiet. The AC is cold, the shower is HOT with strong pressure and we couldn't get enough of the restaurant. Seriously, we ate there 4 times in 1.5 days. Everything was fresh,... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was inexpensive ($75/night for a studio which really meant a large bedroom with a king and 2 twins- perfect for my family, separate living room, kitchen, patio with a hammock and large bathroom. It was more like our own little house with a view. We were visited by howler monkeys, agouti, deer hummingbird... More

Really loved this place. Great setting, cute wildlife, friendly staff. The restaurant has good and cheap vegetarian options too. The breakfast was included in the room price, which was nice. It was a relatively short drive from the excellent Tenorio volcano park.

Hacienda is very nice, the connon areas are well maintained, rooms are spacious, clean, nice a cute. We love it there and go often to enjoy the place. The only bad thing is the service at the restaurant and the quality of the foid which is bad.
