We had heard about Aberdare Cottages and Camping site and decided to check it out. This turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. Aberdare cottages is Zac and Zac is Aberdare Cottages. From the moment we drove to the compound on a wet afternoon, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. The atmosphere,... More

A few hours outside Nairobi, this was salad for the soul. Clean, cool mountain air, beautiful views across a valley and a magnificent river teeming with fish (apparently). It was the perfect antidote to Nairobi's traffic-choked charms. Food for the table, unfortunately, proved a bit harder to find. I'd hoped to catch supper in the river, but not so much... More

Along with another family, I took my children camping for two nights at the Aberdare Cottages & Campsite and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the staff extremely helpful - I had barely taken taken my tent out of the car before two eager-to-help employees insisted on putting it up for me in a matter of minutes.... We stayed here for a whole week and this place can seriously grow on you!! If you're looking for a super quiet place, with fresh air, seriously fresh spring water and free of all those hustles of the city then this is the place to be. I loved the breakfast moments mostly, which are served at a tree top restraurant, overlooking rolling... More

We stayed with our 4 year old son for a weekend away from Nairobi, and it was so lovely. Very peaceful, fresh air, great views. Good home cooked food, and cosy well furnished tents. Frank and the team were really helpful and friendly, and the river was lovely, just a shame we didn't have time for a swim in it!... More

Most notable and unforgettable experience here is the friendly atmosphere by the staff an entire team here, the food is well prepared and there is always a surprise on the menu. There are options for intimate dinners away from the main action but you are welcome to be part of the entire guest party, fishing at the River mathioya is... More

Nice, comfortable and clean chalets and tents. Great location for hikes in the surrounding hills. A little bit far from Aberdare National Park, but it is possible to go to the Aberdares and come back to the cottages within the day. Zack and his team are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The food has nothing exceptional but is good. The... More

We went to stay at the Aberdare Cottages for a weekend away from Nairobi. The staff were friendly, rooms were small but comfortable and the setting was lovely. BUT - on both the Friday and Saturday night the restaurant/bar played loud music which reverberated down to the cottages and kept us awake. On the Friday night I had to go... More

First, the road to this place from Nairobi is great! So much better than say the road to Naivasha. We made the trip in exactly 3 hours. We went off-season, so we were the only guests at the place. It was kind of ideal! We stayed in the luxury tent and it was beautifully decorated. Very rustic. It opened on... More
