Spent a night on the way back to Cape Town. A cold snap had us light the fire in the bedroom for a snug comfortable stay. Dinner very good next to a roaring fire in the restaurant. Well worth a stay for a weekend to relax and in easy reach of the city. Breakfast a bit steep at R 125... More

What a hidden gem. Well hidden in the mountains on the edge of the Overberg. Apparently it's secrets are well known. Wonderful comfortable rooms. A great menu and a wonderful pub all set in the mountains. Despite being a hop, skip and jump off the National road you are complaining unaware of it being there. A fantastic stay. And so... More

I would just like to commend the owners, management and staff for another superb evening that I had the pleasure of enjoying last night with my wife Kim. Not very often can one go to a dinner / dance and come away having tasted probably what will go down as the best sirloin steak I have ever been fortunate enough... More

Had the lady ribs, toasted chicken sandwich and special of the day (steak) Steak was cooked to perfection and the shoe string chips were very Moreish . Services was excellent, place was clean and the toilet facility for the lady',s had a Woden throne built around the toilet. Lovely for a laugh High recommend

We stayed one night at this beautiful old inn. It was the perfect forced relaxation stop. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a double bed (a bit small when you're used to a king but ok) and a single in the corner. It would be nice in winter to have the open fire burning. The restaurant served lovely... More

We stayed at the Houw Hoek in for oyr 3rd time. This place has unequalled beauty. Inbetween the mountains and their lush gardens, you feel perfectly at home. The rooms are to die for, with comfortable beds and a cosy fireplace. We enjoyed a glass of wine on our verandah before supper. The menu is very limited and I feel... More

My wife and I spent two most enjoyable nights at the Houw Hoek Inn - the first being New Year's eve. The value for the dinner dance that evening was outstanding, particularly when compared to what some Cape Town restaurants are charging. Clearly, a great deal of time and effort is put in by the management and staff to ensure... More
