Makes for a decent place to stay, before embarking on the Able Tasman Coastal Trek, regardless of the fact that it is a good 10-20 minute walk to the trailhead. While the communal facilities (kitchen-area, bathrooms, etc) are nothing to brag about, the non-powered campsites themselves are decent-sized, semi-private (due to plenty of trees and hedges), and located on comfortable... We stayed there in March 2014 for 2 nights in a tent on an unpowered site. The campsite itself was nice with a lot of bushes for privacy, but other things were not so nice: the washing machine did not work properly and there was no closed shelter to eat, where you are protected from midges and sandflies. This is... More

- Don't expect much - Old stuff: Basic - Friendly staff - Bad kitchen - You're better off with your own campervan - No free wifi - Food in the shop is expensive - Stayed 1 night - Won't be here again - A bit far from operators

This place is truly a gem on the doorstep of Abel Tasman park. While it is described as a Backpackers, we stayed 2 nights in a studio apt with plenty of space, An ample kitchen, and very nice bathroom with spa in the room. It appeared to have nice backpacker facilities, with plenty if lawn space, outdoor kitchen, a swimming... More

Old Mac's has gorgeous sprawling grounds with beautiful trees and greenery everywhere you look. Facilities and accommodation are great for the price and all are well maintained and super clean. With the entrance to Abel Tasman National Park just down the road and Marahau's beautiful beaches just as close, it's a wonderful location. The staff are all friendly and helpful... More

A 3 day family camping trip. A well appointed camp kitchen with large fridges to share. Comfortable huts. In the first camping / hut area perhaps one shower ... If all spaces were full.. Would not be enough. Walking distance from start of Abel Tasman. Water taxi pick up at reception. Everything can be booked here. Walk to the great... More

Good location and slightly cheaper than other parks in the village. We parked our campervan here for one night and also booked sea kayaking through Independent Adventures who are located next door (also the cheapest kayaking there). Facilities were very good and clean, it can accommodate anyone from tents, vans, backpacking dorms to private rooms and large groups of all... More

There are some really good points to this place, and some really bad ones. I ended up staying here for four nights over a five night period while travelling through Abel Tasman. We stayed in the little backpacker cabins which are quite cute, three bunks to a cabin. The cabins have their own little heater which heats up quite quickly... More

We stayed at this holiday park for two days over Easter and loved it. We were in a motor home and the spots they had were spacious and very green (we are not fans of built-up holday parks where all the spots on one sealed asphalt and the one campers is directly next to its neighbor). There is a swimming... More

We stayed 2 nights before moving next door. We had a 3 share cabin which was okay, the kitchen can get cramped and wasn't too clean. The 'good' showers were line with corrugated iron and went hot and cold, the other showers were porter cabins. Same story with the toilets. The location is excellent for access to the national park.
