We stayed in a double cabin which is very small but cute. Facilities were clean with 2 kitchens. One inside and an outdoor one with a roof over it. The guy checking us in was very unfriendly as he was when I stayed in August 2014. Situated right on the edge of the National Park.

Stayed one night and went for a morning hike before returning after lunch for a quick shower before hitting the road again. Was stopped by a rude lady who said I couldn't shower. She made a comparison to the Hilton saying I couldn't return there for a shower if I had left. I was caught very off guard and surprised.... More

I loved this place. There's easy access to Abel Tasman, plenty of kitchen space, things to do in bad weather, and the most comfortable hostel beds in New Zealand. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about local activities. I would definitely come back!

Stayed for two nights mainly due to the closeness to Abel Tasman. Stayed in a two bed cabin which was very nice as opposed to sharing a dorm room with multiple people. Movie room and kitchens are well equipped. However I didn't feel like there were enough toilets to share between the number of people staying there and they were... More

Stayed here to nights while travelling through the south island. The dorms are well kept and comfortable to sleep in. The new shower block is definitely an improvement from the old ones. The kitchen is spacious which comes in handy especially when cooking in a big group. Despite the positives, we were left with a poor impression due to the... More

The stay on the campground "the barn" was fantastic, a great place, close to the tasman park and all the activities there, as there are kayaking, hiking, swimming etc. Peter and Donna are fantastic managers, helpfull and very friendly. Great place to stay with the nice barn as the cooking place and the view in the mountains and on to... More

Get away from standardized top ten resort and choose this little pearl of a campsite. Very cosy, great facilities (kitchen, barbecues, games, etc) and a fatastic view to the bay. Somewhat young and hippie-like atmosphere so don't be scared of hearing guitars playing in the evening or see peopled dressed up for dinner from one of the boxes with strange... More

We went on a road trip through the south and this is by far the best campsite we've been to. For 25$ in total we got: - spacious, clean, new (or just well kept?) toilets & showers - a kitchen that is truly fully equipped - beautiful scenery within and around the premises - friendly, helpful staff members and a... I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and the first night was quite awful: the shower was leaking and the water ran into the 2 toilets, leaving a pool of dirty water. Also, the lock of my shower was not working properly and someone opened it while I was in it. Fortunately, the environment was fantastic and the Abel... More

There are definitely some good things about this place. It is located right at the start of the park and the main track into the park. I stayed here a week without a car and it's not the easiest as its far from things but there are a few restaurants, a very sparse general store about 15 minutes away and... More
