I stayed here with my Stray tour and I really enjoyed it. The dorms were newly built, spacious with very comfy beds (with featherdown duvets!) and very clean. The kitchen, diningroom and livingroom were situated in the barn. Very cosy and it kind of had a camping feeling to it: I loved it. In the livingroom you can watch a... More

We stayed there for two nights, before we went to the abel tasman and when we came back. It wasn't high season so the campground wasn't really crowded, there weren't many people at all. Besides the one busgroup at our second stay, but they were nice and not too many. The kitchen is nice. The tv-room is great, nice couches... More

We booked a special winter deal cabin for $45 for 2. As we arrived in the Barn it was sunny and warm but during the night it was really cold outside. But this was not really a problem. Not at all! Our cabin was new and pretty good isolated and they provided 2 hot water bottles for the night. All... More

Wow this place is amazing. Right at the beginning of the track with amazing views out over the Bay. A real special piece of NZ. Pete, Donna, Lo and Milan have put so much work and effort into transforming this backpackers and camping ground. There is accommodation for all levels of traveler and plenty of it. First, the setting of The Barn is beautiful and its location ideal for exploring Abel Tasman National Park. You can see the beach from the camp grounds (and possibly your room, if you have a good view), and it's a very short walk until your on the Abel Tasman Coast Track to Anchorage. The "cabin," however, is little larger than... More

We really loved this place! Stayed here after finishing the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. It is not even a 2 minute walk from the end/beginning of the track. So the location is just awesome! And you ve got a really nice view around the place! Don't think we ever took a shower with a view like we had there! Just... More

I stayed here as part of my tour around the south island on the stray bus, one of the best hostels we stayed in due to the fact we didn't have bunk beds, everyone had their own single bed with lovely comfy duvets. The kitchen was lovely and cosy. The only downside was that the toilets and showers were quite... More

Good modern accommodation blocks laid out in separate cabins - some private, some dorms. Comfy single beds (no bunks!) but we found the dorms a bit sparse - lack of shelving/hooks, only a couple of electric sockets, one small wall-heater and seemingly a complete lack of insulation! It was very cold overnight! The place seems more geared towards the good... More

the barn was a stunning experience for me. The surrounding is fantastic, close to the beach and close to the hiking track. The staff was very helpful and awnsered all my questions and wonderings. they have everything you need for a great time in abel tasman, it was a blast!
