Visited on Thursday 31st May 2012, The restaurant was busy due to the pro am golf at the Celtic Manor. On arrival greeted by friendly staff and given a nice table.Even though they were very busy,i was served by the the manager who was extremely pleasant and took time to recommend areas to visit. My order was taken and my crevette... More

Trading on the fact that is this in an excellent location with a captive audience, The Priory has been sitting on its laurels for an overly long time. The food is over priced, over cooked and over seasoned. It gets very busy with an awful lot of 'Desperate Housewives' (which may be very attractive to some...) but on the whole... More

I went with 3 friends for a birthday dinner with an overnight stay. Firstly, the hotel, grounds, accommodation, and reception were first class. Sorry to say the dining experience we will not forget. After drinks in the bar area, as nobody had approached us, we went into the dining area. We stood there like idiots for some time until a... More

We have just come home from a lovely lunch at the Priory. It helped that the weather is lovely so we were able to sit outside. The food was excellent. We had the crevettes and lamb both were excellent. However the service was better than anywhere else I have eaten. The waiters were both attentive and funny. One offered to... More

I stayed here and ate here and enjoyed both. The rooms are a bit dated, but not bad considering the age of the building itself. The bed was a bit hard, but after a long international flight, it felt like heaven. I really enjoyed my dinner. You pick the protein you want to eat and they cook it to your... More

I had a birthday meal at The Priory, but it did'nt impress me as much as the local hype about the place. The bar area was full of "Hooray Henry's" who were loud and boisterous - too much money and mouth for my liking. We moved swiftly into the restaurant to have our drinks, and were not met by anyone... Not always consistent, either good or excellent but NEVER poor. I love the building and the layout, and is set beautifully in the village of Caerleon. If the sun is shining it is the perfect place to sit in the large garden for a drink. Drinks are reasonably priced but the food although to a good standard is teetering on... More

Caerleon has now a fair share of good quality restaurants to eat in, but for many years I have been going back on a few occasions to The Priory. Last night I celebrated my one year wedding anniversary with my wife, and even though the staff did not know of our special occasion, we were treated like royalty. The staff... More

The restaurant Stale garlic bread, a fillet steak that was ordered as medium and then reheated in a poor attempt to provide what was asked for resulted in the same meat being charred. An average lobster thermadore and a chicken Barbados with an indifferent sauce and a sloppy creme brulee which remained uneaten - the very worst we have ever... More

We had lunch over the May Bank Holiday in this wonderful restaurant that serves and presents excellent food. Two of us had Turbot with Asparagus in a hollandais sauce. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and I had a glass of excellent Rioja. My wife and I visited the place 18 years previously and it was nothing like this but... More
