Visited twice on snowy weekend, one lunch, one morning coffee. Very friendly, nice food, good beer. All at fair prices. No problem with boots, dogs! Snow etc Plus one of the best views you might wish for.

It ticks all the boxes for location, welcome and value for money. Lovely bar area, lots of wines by the glass, toasty fires and yummy food. Nothing fancy just does what it says on the box. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Only criticism was the bathroom which could have done with a shelf and was freezing cold. But that's being picky -... More

My parents live in Eyam and we have tried numerous pubs in the area but the Barrel trumps them all. The service is excellent, food outstanding and the pub is very snug and comfortable. It is Assisi reasonably priced and very accommodating to large groups. The view outside isn't shabby either. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

After a walk up from Leadmill Bridge, we called in for a beer or two and food, With 3 dogs, we expected to be asked to sit in the outside area, unfortunately we were freezing in there, but, Tom came to the rescue and allowed us to sit around the corner next to the fire!! Great food, good beer, excellent... More

Given that this old coaching inn dates back to 1597 I was rather disappointed that were no ghost stories or spooky goings on!! However, as a restaurant and B&B it was great. The room was clean and cosy with everything you would need for an overnight stay and the views are breathtaking. We ate a reasonably priced 3 course dinner... More

Twice a year I stay at this hotel on business trip base. Beautiful scenery...I always feel very relaxed. The taste, service of restaurant is also good. The problem is Wifi and Mobilephone data access. However, the staff in restaurant gave us the access to restaurant Wifi. Speed was very slow but we could use VPN for business e-mail. I will... More

We stayed with friends for one night. On the website it said only two-night bookings but having phoned directly I was told that if we would be having dinner they would take our booking. That was great as other places had not been so flexible. We arrived in the fog and the dark and couldn't have had a warmer, literally,... More

The pub was very busy when we arrived at 1.30 on a Sunday lunchtime. Our table for 6 was ready when we arrived. The menu is quite extensive and the gluten-free options are good. I had a prawn cocktail for starters and it was bursting with plump prawns and very enjoyable. I had chicken in a stilton sauce with roast... More

We have eaten several times at the Barrel and the food is amazing, the staff are very attentive efficient and friendly. The views over the peak district are beautiful whatever the weather. Today we went for lunch and the fire was lit which was extremely welcoming, we sat by the window and admired the stunning view while enjoying the most... More

This is a charming old pub located in a hamlet right on the border between the Dark Peak and White Peak areas of the Peak District. From the front of the pub you can look out for miles to the South across the rolling fields of the White Peak. I went in for a lunchtime meal and a drink at... More
